Big question is, is this Mc Laughlin lad any good

And lets be realistic unless he does something special like break into the Liverpool first team this season there isn't a hope in Hell Trapatonni will consider him anyway.

Have to say its a bit foolish of him to be posting tweets about the ROI side while he is still a NIreland player .

By this stage I think the fans are just happy somebody is playing for them. Anyway now that he's played a friendly for Liverpool, he is officially now playing at a higher level than most of the NI squad so I dare say Michael O'Neill will try to have him tied down to the North

who???

He represented us at u21s in may. His brother has played at full level for us which is all encouraging. Its could be another mcclean or another ferguson. Just because he openingly supports ROI doesnt matter, think MON would be best calling him up for the next game as it will take trap a good while to give him a chance. Only time will tell!

.........

That would be my guess too gawa, Trap has a habit of not taking a look at young lads coming through...unless they have a spectacular run ie Mcclean then Trap wont notice.

Half the NI team support ROI ffs. If they are good enough they will declare for ROI,, if not settle for NI. This lad will be no different and there is no shame in that.

What any player Thinking of moving should consider who has actually had any real sucess so far? Yes gibson and mcclean went to the euros but they where not much more than spectators. The lad is only 18 so has a long way to go.

think that misses the point, they haven't declared because they think they're too good for NI just that they want to play for the ROI and are fully prepared to "risk" not being selected for NI

Well Gibson was prepared to Play for NI but the IFA messed him about - not surprised as they are a sham. Hopefully McLaughlin will follow in his brothers footsteps and represent us. Only time will tell.

Get him nailed down MON. If ultimately he's not interested in progressing with NI and the famous Green & White Army, he can gtf however.

In fairness it does irk me somewhat when a player is seemingly content to play for NI through the ranks then bolts when the FAI dangle their ROI-bench-warmer carrot.

Fock off if you've no intention of playing for NI at senior, competitive level.

If that was the case Failback half the NI team would be gone. All those nationalist lads would have played for ROI if they were good enough and you know it.

Foikbaik i would be a hypocrite if i said i wouldn't be annoyed if players who played for the ROI at underage level decided to play for NIreland
But there is nothing illegal in what these players are doing. They are just exercising their right to choose thats all.
Anyway your team have poached Alex Bruce from us!!

^^^IFA should stop poaching our talent........

Pity they won't take Mc Shane and Greene!!!!

Funny enough McShane and Green would make quite an improvement for the NI squad

Ill ignore the wums.

"But there is nothing illegal in what these players are doing. They are just exercising their right to choose thats all."

Choose at 16, or younger even.

with regards to Alex Bruce - he was eligible to play for us as much as the ROI so its not poaching.

Green and McShane are awful players and wouldnt get on our team.

posted on 3/8/12

actually Bruces Grandmother was from Bangor so he should have only being playing for us in the 1st place.

McShane would start ahead of McGivern thats for sure.
Green would start ahead of McCann, Clingan and Hughes.

posted on 3/8/12

mschane is a not a left back and Aaron Hughes is not a CM. Green has nothing that suggests he is any better than McCann who doesn't start for us anyway and he plays a different role to Sammy.

McGivern can play CB. Also I was just reading on wiki that you have called up a 20 year old playing for Fleetwood? really?

posted on 3/8/12

but we play evans and Hughes there - Mcgivern is a left back.

This would be Mclaughlins brother, Conor? Hes only moved there, rarely features for us - one cap i think. Only 21 so will have to see how he turns out.
