My thoughts are now that the pesky ferret Shack-hell has left, Stevie D. shouldn't have a problem seeing out the remainder of his contract at Pride Park!

UTR!

This would be a good signing, he is sort of like Roberts in that will just do his job, but I personally feel he is a better player than Roberts, overall.

Couldnt get in Doncasters team last season yet a lot are saying good signing?!?!?

Bush, Coutts got dropped from Preston with the new manager and he looks a quality addition. From what ive seen it was more a fall out with Saunders.

Typical GSE signing:

* As cheap as possible
* Lower league player
* Will be on a low wage

If we keep filling our side up with cheap, lower league players, then eventually you will become a lower league team. I'm sick of GSE and their "Look we saved Derby County from going out of business" ramell.

Another solid signing.

Good summer of sensible business from Our Nige, yet again

He was their player of the season, the season before last.

So we can all go with whichever Donny 'fact' we like best...

Croft was the player of the year for Norwich when we signed him so I don't think that player of the year is a great recommendation.

There's nothing wrong with signing players from lower leagues. It's how the players perform that matters.
Brayford
Bailey
Roberts
Bryson
Ben Davies
Theo
Jake
Others.

In fact, with Nigel's record it's a very smart thing to do.

Nigel did not sign Croft.

Fair enough, I'll reserve further judgement on him till I've seen him play a few times

You cant build a promotion season on players like these and anyone who thinks we will be challenging 6 IMO is a little deluded

I think most of us are just prepared to tough it out, Bush.

One day GSE will be gone

Another fair point OOE and I take it on board

Why do people bother writing about how good the signing is. Haven't we learnt enough over the years to just wait and see for ourselves.

We've had Spurs youngsters here who've been crap and Crewe players who've been great.

Totally agree Bush but like OOE stated....its going to be one of those seasons again

Iwaslevel, I am with you on this one; though I like everyone can jump to conclusions on signings, you are correct, we sometimes need to wait and see.

I personally think O'Connor is an astute signing, a solid player who covers an area which needs covering and gives a dexterous variety, which is fundamental when ones squad is as thread bare as ours.

Sorry clicked send by mistakes.

-Continued:=However, though I support this signing he may flop; on the other side, I was cynical of signing Robinson and look how much he has come on in the last year.

Appears an underwhelming signing, but then O'Connor has Championship experience and is versatile. It is a long season and we could pick up injuries & suspensions, and he can cover across the back. It is a squad signing & back-up. It adds competition as well, asking the likes of Naylor to challenge for a place.

This is a great signing. Versatile cover for the entire back four. Something we've all been crying out for, for months.

Jimmy O'Connor is a really solid player - you have made an excellent signing. The problem for Jimmy last season was the Mckay plan. He lost his place to Chimbonda and probably unfairly. He came to Rovers as a right back (good defender) who can get forward, put in good crosses and score the occasional goal. He also developed as an excellent central defender and covered our injury crisis in that position for almost a whole season - played excellently there too. Always gives 100%. Good luck to him - I hope he does a good job for you.
