Would be good and the sort of player we need, also it would be especially sweet as the Mousers have set their heart on him

It has got to the stage however, where by any signing of any sort will be greeted with euphoria.

Hoping Ade will be announced tomorrow! Getting nervous now.

Thoughts?...the only reason he wants to move to us is for the money

So you're offering a player around the same amount of wages he gets at his former club?

Oh dear.

Can't see how you can say that VertonghenGroove. Who knows what we offered him in wages, this is Levy. Could've been worse than what his getting now...

How is wanting an upgrade on the wages he's getting a bad thing?
You do know this is a job right?

"Gaston won't leave Bologna if salary stays pretty the same" says either he or his agent are looking at money above anything else.

And yes the salary should be higher but that should be part of the behind the scenes negotiation not the be all and end all. When it's put up front like that the impression you get is that it is all that matters.

And Saint...I'd hate to see us paying stupid salaries like some clubs who are happy to employ mercenaries

Take no notice of his agent.
Hes running around telling as many different tales as possible, and trying to up the price, in regard to transfer fee, and particularly wages.
Hes already met with Liverpool, who I believe gave him short shrift, and since then has been hounding Man City on a daily basis, in the hope they stump up the kind of money he wants.

I don't know enough about him to be excited.. should we be excited?

Got greedy agent written all over it trying to drive interest in his client.

Yep, he may well be a decent enough bloke but if that's the case he needs a much better agent

Vertonghen Groove

Do you think players these days care about "clubs tradition" and crap like that?

I think if I were to move to another country to play for a club I'd hope to have at least a upgrade on my current wages. What about you?

There are plenty who are interested in Ramirez, but his agent smells big percentages, and will more than likely eventual mess things up for his client with this approach.
I think the lad needs a new agent, more than he needs a new club.

He's immense.

If Spurs get him then i'd be devastated

I'd want an upgrade same as anyone else, but I'd also be wanting something more than that. I don't care if they play for the shirt, for personal glory or for the next big career move, I just don't like to see players only in it for the money. That's how you end up with lazy players, happy to sit it out on the bench and pick up their earnings.

Like I said, he may well be a decent bloke and may only be looking for a reasonable salary increase, but the way his agent portrays it he looks more like a mercenary.

I have no doubt whatsoever that Spurs would be offering him a lot more than he was getting in Italy, but agents, and players, see the premiership as a cash cow that needs milking more strongly than any of their counterparts around Europe.

Every single one of Man City and Chelsea players are there primarily for the money and they seem to do ok.

I've only seen him at the olympics but he didn't look that good, and was taken off in one game he was having a shocker

Think people are forgetting that due to the high tax rate in this country, the least people will expect is a pay rise just to earn here what they were earning in Italy/Spain etc.

Have no problem with people looking for extra cash as to most it is a job, and any one of us on here would look for a pay rise in a new job. My only caveat to that I still expect the player to act professionally in the meantime when looking for a move ala Berbatov, Modric, Tevez...vs people like Carrick who want to move but keep their mouth shut and work for the team until the deal is done and they get their move.
