Almunia in goal, I presume?
I'd say that team isn't really any better than what we can put out this season. I would only really want Cesc and RVP back out of that lot.
He will be a loss to Arsenal but how big a loss depends on whetehr you get a replacement, the quality of that replacement and the bedding in period associated with new signings. Song is replacable and Arsenal need to ensure that they dip into the market before 31st August to find the right man. You'll be okay if you succeed in doing this.
M'Vila would be a perfect replacement for song, probably better as you have had a soft midfield since Viera left.
Why is it embarrassing?
What did those players ever win for Arsenal together?
Were they not part of the problem? They were all part of varying but infinitely talented Arsenal teams but failed continuously.
Almost 100% sure I realise what we have lost when it comes to Alex Song.
If we get M'Vila i would like the think our current team would be up there if not better.

Nasri???
If we were selling these players and failing to replace them, then I would concede that that is a sad indictment of how we have fallen as a club.
However:
Sagna----Koscielny--Vermaelen--Gibbs
-------Arteta----New Player*---Cazorla
----------------Giroud--Podolski
*Reports suggest that if Song is sold, Wenger will be looking to bring in a replacement.
Song is a great all-round player, but he has some flaws that simply can't be masked (a lack of balance and mobility that has shown no signs of improvement, for example).
His sale represents an opportunity to adapt the system and rectify such flaws in the current set-up.
Please people stop putting wilshere in these line ups. He won't kick a ball this season.
Song is a utility player who had like 8-9 assists last season and is only 24. He has been a regular for 3/4 years and will develop into a great play.
It was only recently fans were hailing him as the best dm in the league after yaya.
This is madness
clichy was crap for his last few years at us
"Nasri???"
What about him?
"Song is a utility player who had like 8-9 assists last season and is only 24. He has been a regular for 3/4 years and will develop into a great play."
But there is a ceiling to Song's potential; he simply won't overcome his inherently poor balance and speed.
I rate Song very highly, but as good as he is, he is far from infallible, and his sale represents an opportunity to rectify the imbalances that had been plaguing the side previously.
"It was only recently fans were hailing him as the best dm in the league after yaya."
That's good for them, they're wrong but good for them.
I wouldn't call Yaya a defensive mid and Song certainly hasn't shown the ability to do that affectively on a consistent basis.
Arteta did a more defenisve job than Song last year.
also song hasn't gone anywhere yet has he?
Assuming that RVP leaves for 24 mill and song for 15 mill that team was sold for around 146 million all for the grand total of 1 fa cup each for RVP and Cesc. Not bad buiseness me thinks

I share your feelings mate, its quite simply getting embarrasing.
the worst part is some actually believe any cash we recoup from the sales of RVP & Song will be reinvested
We might get Sahin on loan and probably some cheap unknown player but thats it!
The Arsenal way is to make profit in every transfer window and that has been achieved
It does make you think how many players would we have sold if we didnt get a champs lge spot
But there is a ceiling to Song's potential; he simply won't overcome his inherently poor balance and speed.

as much as Song is a total t wat and as slow as a snail balance is the once thing he posseses in abundance
To some extent, I agree.
When he was shielding the ball, he used his body very well and was near impossible to barge off balance.
However, when an opponent was running at him at speed, he simply didn't have the balance or turning speed to go with them when they knocked the ball past him - which is why he conceded so many fouls, IMO.
Yeah, statistically Song is (was) always either first or second on our team in terms of being successfully dribbled against.

why are we trying to justify the sale of Song???
He is better than all the DM at United, Chelsea, & Liverpool.
Can anyone honestly say selling Song makes our squad stronger???
I think our lack of recent success has turned our fans senile.
^Exactly, Skins!
Many argued he made up for his flaws with his excellent passing and the number of assists he provided, which is partly true, but perhaps with the signing of Cazorla, we're now less reliant on him in that respect.
Perhaps a less creative, but more defensively sound player can be brought in, providing the team with more balance than when the Cameroonian was a mainstay.

Im guessing when we sell Vermealen next season, you'll justify that by saying he wasnt a very good defender anyway and his lapse of concentration cost us numerous times, right???
