For a guy deemed not good enough to play for his country!!!!
Martin O'Neill cheque book manager! Now you know why he left Villa!!!!
He spend a shed load of cash at Villa over the years too.

In a week where Llorente is going for roughly the same amount it makes no sense, supply and demand or not.
However does MON really still get to you lot that much? It's seven years since he left. Let it go lads, let it go...
Whatever about transfer fees, there really should be a salary cap. Will never happen though. The money these guys get for kicking a ball is disgraceful.
Wire sorry I missed the bit out! Oneill disnae get to me at all, perhaps you need to get yir hole and chill - look out for a TCD online and he will sort you out!
Btw, rumours mcgeady will be off to sunderland too.. Do we have a sell on clause?
Fletcher is proof positive of the large amount of very average defenders playing in the epl.
OK Ally, whatever you say

A sell on clause, when you managed to rob someone of £10m for the one-trick pony,....you should already be wearking a mask ya dodger!
Who deemed him not good enough for his country?
He should play and start every game. We have nuthin else up front
Why would McGeady leave a Champions League outfit to go play midleague EPL? Crazy but I guess hes made a fortune in Moscow!
IF i were a player with either of the Old Firm then I couldnt justify going to a Swansea/Sunderland/Villa/norwich/stoke type team! My ego would make me stay in Scotland unless it was a big 4 move! Players are massively overpaid in Scotland as it is ffs Bernard had a Ferrari when he played for Aberdeen!!!!
Doubt very much there's a sellon clause when you got over the odds for him the first place.
Fletcher is a proven EPL goalscorer even at a relegated club and, as much as I don't agree with it, it's a sign of the times. Andy Carroll was barely even a proven Championship goalscorer and he went for £35m - Puts it in perspective.
15 years ago, £15m was getting you Alan Shearer. Now it won't even get you a guy like Jordan Henderson in that silly English market. A cap needs to be put on wages across the board and tighter rules about what sort of debts etc. clubs can run with before the game implodes. And I'm speaking as a fan of a club who found that out the hard way
Papa - if they put in a salary cap or transfer debt limit then this would be against employment law, well at least for O'Neill! I wonder if he has a "harry bung" style agreement with agents????????????
Aye O'Neill and his ilk obviously wouldn't support any changes to the rules which stopped them splurging a fortune and moving onto the next one
But guys like McLeish who can't be trusted with more than £75 in the transfer market would be loving it
IF i were a player with either of the Old Firm then I couldnt justify going to a Swansea/Sunderland/Villa/norwich/stoke type team!

No...that £50k per week on offer would be of little consolation...
Aye we have a 50% sell on clause, he is going for 20 mill so that's 5mill for us. Well done Pistol.
sod - I think he's actually going for £1 billion so with the sellon clause that should net you about £2 billion. Shrewd move
Wonder if he's honed his Irish accent yet wee Aids. Actually forgot all about him until this thread
Tafka - Its all about the game for me! Pulling on an old firm top or getting royally horsed in most of those teams and winning feck all! This is why I admire Scott Brown
But Brown gets the best of both worlds coz the Tims are paying him about £65k a week to run about like a wildman achieving nowt
Haha, 50% sell-on after robbing them of £10m already...
Aye, well done Pistol right enough....
....*and awake*
Brooklyn,
Super, speaking of harry bungs, any word on souness and his ehh payment?
ehh payment? Was it not a loan?
Tafka - Its all about the game for me!

Its all about the game for you as you are on here talking about being a footballer and not actually being one.
Any footballer will tell you loyalty is great until it affects your bank balance....
Ask yourself - in your job (whatever it is) if someone asked you to go to their company, to do the same job but double the wages...what would you do?
Brown on £65k?...heard it was nearer £70k after winning the league
With Fletcher going for 15 mill, what would big Joe Jordan be worth if he was playing today. 1OO Mill ???
