exactly chronic, I agree with all that.

I do think Dembele is a tidy player, but is he THAT good? I've never seen him completely boss a game, or score/set up that many goals for Fulham. I know we have to pay £15m if we want him because that's the amount of his buyout clause, but is he really worth that much? I might be wrong on this one, but I just don't really see what all the fuss is about...

Guys don't think of new players as replacements ....AVB has won the Europa a year or so back and I believe he will go after it again so we will have so many games we'll need a decent competitive squad and all will get plenty of starts

agree with this, and that was one of my biggest citicisms of Harry - we treated the cup competitions with contempt....

a big club like ourselves should be winning things on a more regular basis than we currently do.

even in the semi final last season redknapp played cudicini ahead of friedel for sentimental reasons as he was the fa cup keeper........ it was the fa cup semi final !!!!!! strongest team had to play !

he is not as good as modric.. but that doesnt mean he wont be... he has the following in his favour.

1. he is younger than modric
2. he settled into the prem quicker than modric did, which shows that he is an adaptable player
3. he is more dynamic than modric, more pace and directness
4. he has time because of his age to work on his passing and reading of the game, to bring it up to the level that modric had.

I know we have two different 25 man squads (one for Europe) but I wouldnt be surprised if they were pretty much the same and he mixed and matched for all the comps depending on the opposistion rather than the competion

He is strong, quick, skillfull and knows the prem. he will be a success at the lane

squid i agree.... i am encouraged that AVB seems ambitious and wants to basically win the lot.

now obviously we wont win the prem - but we have as good a chance as any in the europa, and in the domestic cups favourable draws can get you a long way before you play anyone serious.

a big, fit, hungry squad that is adaptable and with players that are used to playing with everyone will serve us well

number 8.... i like siggy and was pleased when we bought him as long as it wasnt at the expense of players we needed - strikers, winger, modric replacement, another striker, keeper

for a while it looked like it might be and i was growing impatient ... but it now seems as though we will be addressing the problem areas of the squad.

Bloody hell when you think about it the Belgies could win the world cup with the squad they are getting together

TBH I'm not sure AVB actually signed him , think it was backroom guys not wanting to miss out on a decent player because we had no manager in place

Gilf looked awesome last year and we have needed a player like that for years. he will defo get us goals this year.

I am looking forward to the europa much more this year than last, a good run in that will give our young side a lot of confidence

bale was a set piece specialist at southampton.. he was scoring some ridiculous free kicks....


now at spurs he is behind vdv, kaboul, benny, walker, in the pecking order, despite the fact that in recent memory i can only ever remember us scoring one direct free kick.... walker last season...

AVB needs to talk to Bale, insist that he grows some balls, tells VDV to peee off when we have a free kick, and stats taking them, or at least working on them in training
