Would it be crass to suggest it's somehow linked to an alleged gambling debt one might have to the other...?

It would be an unfounded rumour. Nowt else.

Pardew has done a great job so far as have the rest of the backroom staff. He's still very much an improving manager and hopefully he can continue to grow with us, it's a good fit at the minute. He's even got once the 'enfants terrible' Ben Arfa under control and playing the best football of his career which speaks volumes.

The long term deal is just the way Ashley does business with all his companies, he thinks its easier to set standards to employees apparently. Still though 2020

That's just what Chrissy Hughton was saying t'other day too

To be fair to Pardew, he's done a good job with some rumoured prima-donnas; in an age where a lot of the power is with the player, it helps for them to know that the manager is a fixture, that his decisions will stand and that to fall out with him is the beginning of the end.

Let's not kid ourselves, that doesn't count for much in a game where the likes of Joey Barton can abuse his way from one club to another without seeing his pay drop, but it's better than nowt.

Full marks to Newcastle for showing their full support, recognition and commitment to Pardew, who has done a good job so far. They clearly see long term continuity as important. Being the 3rd best supported club with passionate fans, Newcastle should always be a top 5 Prem team. With Pardew given such a show of support, that should now be a minimum expectation.

Good luck for the rest of the season. Hope we get to play you in the Prem in the future.
