Owen Coyle will never know our best team unless he stumbles across it in some mad random selection forced upon him by circumstances beyond his control.
It's depressing like this season & last. It really is.
Thank god I wont get to see us again until the Ipswich game in December!!
Bold statement to say about a 22/23 year old Petrov.
As I always say, 13 years ago, Kevin Davies was on the scrap heap and he's done alright since. Ngog has all the attributes, he just needs chances. Even if he doesn't get them, he makes us tick as a team. Someone else will score because he creates the chance, plays someone in, or makes the run that opens up space for someone to exploit. We had the least offsides last season, no one ever tried to play him in behind, he has pace to burn, the players were so wrong to not utilise this. Hopefully we will see this more this season, maybe only if a new manager comes in who knows how to set up to your strikers strengths.
David Ngog at Liverpool:
mins per goal 202.83
Goals per 90 min 0.44
Its amazing what happens when you play to a players strengths. He had a good scoring record at Liverpool, but people will never notice it, because they see he was involved in 94 games and assume he's played 94 full games. He only started 41 games in his career for Liverpool, he scored 19 during his time there.
Benitez played Ngog, in the same system that was used for Torres, and it worked well, he scored goals, he hasnt for us, because he has had his back to goal linking up the play. Ngog had less time to impress, but he still did well coming on as an 18-21 year old.
Ngog is a much much beter footballer than people give him credit for, there is a reason why several established PL clubs, plus several in France enquired about him in the summer. He needs more experience, confidence, and to be played in a system that gets the best out of him. He is a much better target man than Davies, and a better allround player.
Good review Cleggy.
The really scary piece with Andrews is that the club committed to a 3 year contract, which in fiscal terms is a huge amount of money. I'm glad others have spotted that he's slow, can't pass, can't tackle, can't shoot, can't track back, and is in my opinion the worst player to pull on a White shirt since Mario Jardel. Surely someone scouted him before he was signed, or are we following Blackburn's lead and simply letting agents/interested parties con us out of cash.
I agree about Andrews,I have been very dissapointed in him too.We are crying out for a ball winning player to go alongside Spearing. We seem to lack character though all over the park though, what I would give for a Gary Speed,Faye type in there, and if I could bring Gudni back I would, but we cant can we?.
Our scouting system needs to be seriously looked at,its embarrassing compared to teams like Blackpool,Wigan local neighbours who seem to sign quality, but we end up with poor signings.
If we put the whole team up for sale now, dont think we would get a stampede do you guys?.

"Owen Coyle will never know our best team unless he stumbles across it in some mad random selection forced upon him by circumstances beyond his control."
Unfortunately this is my thought exactly.
From what I have heard at the start of the season, if we are not in the mix after 10 games (more than 5 points from a promotion place) then his job would be reviewed. Obviously this is now an impossiblity, so I would assume due to our position being quite far off the target we will be hopefully be looking to appoint someone next week who can rectify our bad start.
I thought that Spearing and Andrews played well first half, Andrews got forward when he could and Spearing did his defensive duties well.
The problem as always is our second half performances, do they put something in the half time drink? We always look sluggish in the second half, perhaps the fitness levels are not what they should be.
I also think that we need SKD at the moment, what we need is someone to play off him, a SKD/N'Gog partnership won't work, they are too similar.

Whitebic - I seriously can't remember that particular target being mentioned. Can anyone else? The much talked about 2pts per game target, and the 20 game target are the only ones I am aware of.
If this target of 'no more than 5 points off automatic after 10 games' was genuine, it is still mathematically possible, so not sure you can state so categorically that it is impossible.
Mathematically possible if six or seven results went our way, but I tell you if we are within 5 points of automatic promotion by full time on Saturday I will climb over into the Millwall home end, walk up to the biggest, hardest thug I can find, slap him in the face, tell him his old mum's a dirty trollop and unfurl a West Ham scarf.
Pass the word around - might sell a few more tickets.
Exiled - WB didn't say within 5 points.
We would have to win (obviously) = 14 points.
For this target not to be met, 2nd place would need 20 points. Only Brighton, Leicester and Cardiff can achieve 20 points this weekend!!!!!!
Ah ... in that case, scrub the bit about the West Ham scarf. I might get away with the rest of it, but a WHU scarf would be a particularly unpleasant way to commit suicide.

I'm not sure what your source is for that, but when I had a quick look those stats matched up to only one of his seasons at Liverpool, not his career.

I'd be surprised if his overall scoring record for them was anywhere close to nearly one goal in two games (taken just as minutes played).
Thought you were being brave to put your life on the line for those three teams to save you!!!!!
It maybe me assuming automatic promotion places CEF. Anything but 3 points at millwall would be grim and we should look to get someone in over international break to sort this out.

Agreed, but will it be enough for PG and ED to actually make the decision they are so reluctant to make.
It's safe to say that if we win, then OC is going nowhere for a while.
If we lose, then maybe that will be enough for them to revise their target.
The draw is probably the worst result. My gut feel is that a draw would give OC at least one more game.
I was using a different source...maybe one was stolen from another.
But if we assume he played 90 minutes per every start, and scored 19 goals, thats a goal every 194 minutes.
If we assume he played 30 minutes in every sub appearance. (Extremely generous amount of time, will be less than this) Thats 4980 minutes altogether...roughly a goal every 3 games during his time at Liverpool. (265mpg).
That is his record at an absolute worst. It will be better than that if i had the whole range to utilise to get an exact figure.
I would guestimate that his actual record for Liverpool was 1 goal every 2.5 games. When using the actual minutes played, rather than how many games he featured in.
Thought Afobe was word than poor. Don't remember one time where KD and him manage to pass to each other or collect any flick ons/knock downs. Mainly because there weren't any.
Thought Mills was awful too. Even Zat Knight managed to move the ball about in the first half. Mills just hoofs it. He is very poor.
Felt sorry for Mavies and Andrews. Good players and always available to defenders to drop the ball into but they don't. The midfield gets completely bypassed, hence fans thinking that Mavies isn't involved enough - it's because the ball is always 4 foot over his head.
Spearing had his worse game in a BWFC shirt. Not saying he's a bad player, but he lost the ball in dangerous situations especially 2nd half.
Thought Sordell was quite good when he came on. Gt the ball to feet and moved it on quickly, notably linking with Petrov down the left.
So I pretty much disagree with everything in the OP. Sorry Clegg!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
really dont mind you disagreeing, but all your opinions no matter how strong or valid are now null and void from one little belief you have.....Andrews is a good player......in what life form is he a good player he offers absolutely nothing.
