Agree - you've got a very patient hooligan here. I'm willing to give Pearson next season as well as long as we continue to see progress.
I'm very satisfied with the way the team are performing and think Nigel is doing a great job. Long may it continue.
I can't help but feel we're going to lose on Saturday now!
You might be patient, Merseyside but the owners are not. I don't buy the notion that talk of a change of manager was just rumour. I am convinced someone was feeding info to the football reporters. The fact the owners issued a lengthy denial statement just reinforces my view. We will lose matches and I suspect every time we drop points the "Pearson out" machine will crank up. The players are Pearson's and are working well as a unit. Confidence is high and he is the best person for us at the moment. A change of manager will mean another wholesale change of playing staff.
Rednapp? Someone may have talked to him but I cannot see why a southerner living at Poole and in his mid-sixties should up-sticks and either travel or relocate to the East Midlands. Anyway, the wrong person to lead a Championship team like ours. I can see him going to somewhere like QPR.
Overall, now is the time for all good "hooligans" to be patient and hope the owners can keep their cool. We should almost certainly get in to the play-offs.
Now that the Redknapp episode fades into the distance.. looking at the fixtures tomorrow, if we win (and we will) we will be top of the tree! Although it could only be for a couple of hours as Cardiff is a late KO. So it will be a case of, come on you Tractor Boys.
Let's enjoy it while we can, soon Nigel will undoubtedly lose another match and every out of work manager and their agents will crawl out of the woodwork again.
Pearson has won four games on the bounce and everybody is raving about his team. Lose four and he will be rubbished. Everybody, especially the owners, needs to keep a cool head and Pearson will deliver the play-offs at least. The worst place to be at the moment is at the top of the division. Everbody want to knock you off your pedestal. Somewhere in the top six would be perfect and low profile. But I fear the owners won't see it this way. They probably know more about flogging duty-free scotch and cigs than football.
Good comments, longtimefox. In fact the owners have gone down a lot in my estimation after this episode.Yes, fair enough them saying that they don't comment every time there is media speculation, but there was undoubtedly some fire in the Redknapp smoke.
Looking further ahead, this is only the tip of the crap we are going to see/hear from the printed media,
When we get promoted, then the fun starts;-
Manager is not good enough for the premiership -
Lacks experience! Compared to fergie!!
We need a big name boss for the big players -
Every failed premiership manager is touted by the press and their agent
Better players -
Ha! Every second class premiership player and his dog at crazy wages will be looking for a pay day
8 games in 2 wins 1 draw -
Nigel sacked!
The normal big named guy’s paraded around
Result back to the championship, manger leaves or is sacked in October as he can’t cope with the championship,
What I would like to see,
We go up, we stay up and Nigel keeps developing the team slowly adding 1-2 players a season,
We come back down and Nigel gets 2 seasons, the parachute money to keep players /develop new talent.
But it would have to be 1 season to get promoted and 1 season to secure premiership football
We go back up use the owners / sky money to stay there,
Some good points, Dublin. I would like to see us bring on our own youngsters who can eventually hold their own at the highest level. What I don't want is a dressing room full of yesterday's crocked Premier League stars with big salaries and even bigger egos. Success can be achieved with a long-term plan. Holloway nearly pulled off the impossible when Blackpool were in the top flight. We need to stick with Pearson for two or three seasons. Give him a chance to build a team even if we go through the yo-yo or promotion and relegation. We have had too many changes of manager in recent years. I reckon Pearson would get on better with the owners and the hooligans -- sorry, fans -- if he were not so grumpy. At the moment he comes across like Alec Ferguson with toothache.
Historically I’ve always been of the view that Leicester City will never keep a manager for very long. If they have a successful one then they will leave to one of the big boys. If they have a poor one then they will be sacked.
Things are slightly different these days as the big clubs rarely invest in up and coming managers. Recent exceptions are Brendon Rogers to Liverpool and Paul Lambert to Aston Villa. Although PL to Villa surprised me a little bit as these days Aston Villa is not much of a step up from Norwich.
That’s why it’s important that if you have a decent manager you don’t contrive to get rid of him. You can’t do much if Manchester United come knocking at the door, but you would have had to mismanage things considerably to let one go to Hull City for example – and even more for them to want to go to Hull City.
We often see indignant fans talking about loyalty from players and managers when the fickle fans, themselves, are only prepared to give a manager or player half a dozen games. I can’t help thinking that some of these Redknapp rumours are inflamed by a vocal minority of our fans wanting Pearson out. A season from now they can make their judgement, but in the short term I just wish they would go away and shut up!
We are getting a bit carried away yes we are in the top two but so have a few other teams so far this season we arn't ten games in yet.
Lets get to the end of the year before we start thinking about the premiership
Joby - It was interesting hearing Birch on the Boot Room last night when he said that Pearson had been "forced out" the first time.
But Nev - that's the point. We had a manager here that should be given the time to build our club up properly.
If we don't go up this season buy progress (we already have) he should stay
If we font go up the following season but miss out (1-5 points from auto or play-off final defeat) he should stay
If we do get promoted but struggle, he should stay
My worry is (as with others) after this latest episode, that I don't think the owners share my views and he'd be gone and we'd be back to square 1.
If we get midway through next season and our team is 13th and showing no signs of improving, of course he should go, but I've seen enough already this season to beleive that we would not be going backwards under Pearson.
Even those criticising his tactics have had their eye wiped (a Liverpool saying) in recent weeks as Pearson has changed it up effectively. Those that complained he plays boring football are altering Knockaert and Marshall lighting up games. Whingers and poor performers out. Young talented hungry players in.
This is progress, this is life under Nigel Pearson.
I like it.

That's the problem with Pearson. He can't handle big name players and players with a big ego.
He keeps getting rid of quality players that are vital if we are to progress and we keep getting ....
..... er .....
.... better!
Hmmm .... the argument is beginning to fail.

Thats not the case he did try to manage them because he new for non football related reasons they had to be got off the books.
The owners say he is creating a better atmosphere within the squad part of this will be players who new they where on their bike have gone.
