The fans in the know didn't get carried away with our earlier form and recognised that this season would be one of consolidation and survival.
League One is of a good standard containing no really poor sides and anyone is capable of beating anyone else on the day, and don't forget it's not a level playing for Town, with half a dozen clubs at least still receiving parachute payments equating to £17 million/season.
20 points from our first 12 games is a very creditable return so far and if we look back over the past 20 season's, 54 points will guarantee any side survival.
So we have 34 matches to pick-up 34 points absolute maximum to guarantee our status.
Piece of p-ss in my mind.
Here's the points tally of the third relegated teams over the past 20 seasons in The Championship/old Division One, all based upon a 46 match season:
2011/12 - 40, 42, 47, 46, 52, 42, 42, 50, 51, 46, 49, 48 (Town in 2000/01), 46, 47, 48,46, 52, 48, 51 & 49 in 1992/93.
Seriously - In Larry I Trust.
I saw that hydy, Mirf has made similar mistakes in his last 3 posts, too much sherry methinks!
Two poor performances, two bad defeats.
Not a crisis, but it could be if we lose the next two and see ourselves plummeting down the table...that's when the 'confidence' goes..and that is then very difficult to arrest.
Grayson needs to nail these ill-disciplined performances (and by that I mean players forgetting the game plan). He needs to nail it this saturday.
It might have come at a good time, because if the players do get the message, then surely we wouldn't expect them to produce like that again...and that could see us hovering around the play-offs all season which would be exciting stuff.
Like I said, not yet a crisis...the players need to keep the faith and learn, quickly.
Saturday is a must win game now, a point against Blackburn, every one happy. (*¯︶¯*)
jacko... everyone played badly yesterday and on that game cant single out individuals. however one thing thats obvious and a fair bit concerning is that without vaughan we dont look to have a competent attacking outlet. novak is way out of his league and non existant yesterday. vaughan is gonna be out as much as he plays sadly and therefore i think we are desperate for strong mobile target man like vaughan. os otherwise we just arent gonna score enough goals
Mirf - Sounds like you are getting to the stage in life where he is constantly getting things a little muddled up,, Hope he doesnt become one of those little old men who are going to the shops and getting lost before going to the house where he lived 5o years ago,,, His missus should buy him an extending lead ! Never been the same since his lad was dismissed.
Its the championship,, Win 2 lose 3, A load of clubs do this and we are in the clubs who will flit up and down the table as and when,,, Am with Mirf in that i know a few who began to think we could have a season like 69/70, Alas as has been said,, Survival will suffice for me,, But if we are in with a shout of making the play offs with 4 games to go and safe from relegation, We will have had a great season,,,, I can quite easily see another defeat to the Bristol, Draw against Rovers and a win at the Chops,,, Leaving us comfortably in mid table, Which wont be good enough for some.
wtf is all this personal abuse of Mirf about....
He is just passing an opinion, and has even admitted his alleagence has long since shifted from LC to SG, as has mine...
Back off lads, it's not even as if it's funny...
Mid table will do me mate, i can't afford an other playoff season, so if we can't get top 2 , lets finish mid table but saying that a last day of season survival will be existing (⊙o⊙)
Who's having a go @mirf?
It's just banter, you know what he's like with his stats. Recently he's been "off his game" like the town team coincidentally
aim as high as you possibly can..always strive to do better...
or failing that come up with a few stats as to how you can "just do enough"...
start picking games in the future that a "point" will be good enough in etc etc..
its sh-te...
Am sure Mirf can look after himself Myth, Dont think he needs someone sticking up for him,, Not till the dementia fully kicks in anyway,, Him n Jacko can get a couple of bungalows next to each other up Honley when the time is right and have the same door step conversation every morning at the same time every day !
excuse me....!!
Nothing wrong with my marbles...if I could just remember where I left them......
