Agree with both comments, we definitely haven't seen the best of this team, a few key players are missing and we haven't quite found our balance.

Its not the spurs way either defensive football is

Huddlestone is a player who splits opinion. I always get the impression that he's got more to offer - he has the ability to take the next significant step forward in his development but he doesn't try hard enough. Thats probably unfair but some players give off that impression and Huddlestone is one imo.

Big Kabouls

I agree. I really dont like all this "parking the bus" stuff. We're Tottenham Hotspur, we try to score as many as we can....

agreed......even the times he leans right up....he still don't get about the pitch...

its like he's decided....

'nope...box to box isn't the way i play...'

and in other era's...and with other different players around him...maybe he cld get away with it....

say if we still had modders....

or if dembele gets over his hip click....and they can forge summat....!?

True, true and true! We need to be a bit more ruthless and batter teams, I've only really seen that against Reading this season.

Cannot remember which of our players was on soccer AM but they said that Hudd was the hardest trainer and always in the gym after training Lennon longest in the shower

The first time I saw Huddlestone I honestly thought he had the ability to be the next Hoddle but IMO he has failed to reach any heights at all.

I read about his fantastic shot and wonder why he scores so few goals.

I read about his fantastic passing ability and wonder why his assist rate is actually quite pass.

IMO he is a player who has lots of technical abillity but has always and will always flatter to deceive.

We are definitely missing something at the moment. Thoughts?

-------

Modric most obviously, especially with Dembele out. Dempsey's form for Fulham shows what he can do but Rafa was a much more cultured player. I think he'll come good for us but we need to play to his strengths - more crosses into the box.. which we don't do when Defoe's playing.

more crosses into the box

Why would you put more crosses into the box when you have one striker in there and he is 5ft 5 ?

Exactly grand.

A player can be a fantastic passer but not get many assists, some players sit deep and pass out to the wings, which then leads to attacks and goals.

A player can also hide by playing "hollywood" passes out wide which look good but never ever hurt the opposition and IMO thats sums up Hudd.
