Hamilton vs Button - The Final Tally

posted on 25/11/12

They were team mates for 3 years. Hamilton beat him twice and Button beat him once.

This season the gulf in talent has been clear to see.

It's not even close. Hamilton has battered his team mate

2007 hamilton matched alonso. It was 50/50

Correct me if I am wrong.

2009 buton had the fastest car, won 6 races and then sh11t himself.

2010 Alonso had a 15 point lead and vettel fluked a wdc despite never leading the season.

tall and use

good evening TAU

would have to say lewis has had the edge but not by alot if you look at the wider picture of there 3 years together ,

buttons big weakness is his qualifying pace , he has never been a decent qualifier so is allways on the backfoot in the race -

there is nothing between hamilton and button in race pace but hamilton has allways been fairly solid on saturday afternoons - that is the basic difference between the two drivers -

Having thought about it, I agree with you, martial.

Yes Hamilton proved to be the better driver, but there's no way in any universe that Button has been dominated and humiliated like so many people said he would be when he announced he was leaving Brawn for McLaren back in 2010.

Button provided competition the first 2 years. This year, he's been beaten comprehensively. The reliability problems Hamilton has had has masked the gulf in performance this season

Imho you dont fluke a title. You have to score an awful lot of points over the course of a season to be a champion.

Your hatred of Vettel, Button etc is laughable, and I presume that you do have two accounts on here, or is the other one just your twin?

what has alonso 07 , button 09 , alonso and vettel 2010 got to do with the authors topic of hamilton and button and there 3 years together at mclaren ?

I do not have two accounts. I have an opinion.

Perhaps you regard my opinion as worthy of a laugh.

What criteria do you think is important in deciding your view on the greatest F1 drivers?

Do you seriously think that Vettel was the best driver this season? If you do then perhaps you should have paid more attention to the races.

Vettel, the youngest 3xWDC will never be as good as the others that have achieved 3WDC.especially the oldest.

You claim you have an opinion - fair enough. + yet you slate others for having an opinion?

Pot calling the kettle much?

Well considering that you didn't put Moss or Senna in your top 20, what are yours?!?

Button was better because he has morales.

Can you please explain what you mean by morals? I

This is gonna be good

Welshy (U1348) - "What criteria do you think is important in deciding your view on the greatest F1 drivers?"
-------------------------------

My criteria is how dirvers that I have watched have impressed me for their skill.

Moss was a nice english gentleman. Senna was dangerous. I never liked Senna when he was alive and I don't see why I should like him after he died.

Now it is your turn to explain your criteria.

My criteria, I would say several areas -

The ability to perform above the level that their car is capable of.
Senna in 1993 for example
How they compared to other greats whose prime career crossed with one another in similar machinery
How good where they in comparision to the levels of their teammates

Moss was a nice english gentleman.
--------------------------------------------------
What does that have to do with his driving ability? Graham Hill was a 'nice english gentleman' yet he made your top 20

Senna was dangerous
------------------------------------------
I think Schmacher has been 'dangerous' ask Damon. Yet Schumacher appears and Senna doesn't in your top 20. The most dangerous thing about Senna was his outright pace.

As for who features in my top 20 - it's not easy I grant you.

Fangio
Ascari
Moss
Brabham
Clark
G. Hill
Surtees
Stewart
Rindt
Fittipaldi
Lauda
Petersen
G. Villeneuve
Piquet
Senna
Prost
Mansell
Schumacher
Hakkinen
Raikkonen
Hamilton
Alonso
Vettel

Is a possible list, but I'd need to trim it. I love Jean Alesi but can't really put him in above those ones. Loads of other great drivers but they can't all be in the list

Vettel???????????

posted on 27/11/12

I think what he meant was Button was better due to that mischievous mexican monkey "morales" going around the McLaren garage breaking things on Lewis' car. Ooh you little tinker morales.
Seriously though nobody objective looks at McLaren over the last few years and concludes that Jenson was/is a better driver than Hamilton.

---------

Didnt fire his dad, didnt cheat on his wife, didnt move out his country, didnt use the N word on twitter, didnt openly mock the paralympics on twitter, does triathlons.

It was good

Didnt fire his dad
----------------------
Button's dad doesn't work for him so it would be hard to fire him. Hamilton's dad has got an excellent relationship with Lewis as well.

Didn't cheat on his wife
-----------------------------
Hamilton isn't married, so what wife are you referring to? Nicole and him are together, they separated because their schedules made it hard for their relationship to work. They are together.

Didnt move out his country
---------------------------
Button doesn't like in the UK, I would suggest you educate yourself about this as you are just being silly now. He lives in Jersey which isn't a part of the UK and is also a tax haven. Almost every single F1 driver lives away from home, why is it only Hamilton's that bothers you?

Didn't use the N word on twitter
---------------------------------
When did this happen? You do realise that if a white person uses the N word, he would be labelled racist.

Didn't openly mock the paralympics on twitter
-----------------------
How did Hamilton mock the paralympics on twitter?

Does triathlons
----------
Doing triathlons means someone has morals.

Dear boy what is wrong with you, still wetting the bed

I'm still at a loss for what morality has to do with driving an F1 car and if you are talking about morals, why is Hamilton the only person whose morals interest you. What about Schumacher, what about Alonso?

posted on 27/11/12

Hamilton still fired his dad though. Classy.

I meant girlfriend, you caught me on that one. Hardly makes it that much better though, except for pathetic hamilton fan girls like yourself.

Last time I checked Jersey was part of the UK, unless your deluded mind has told you otherwise?

Try using twitter, then you will see what he tweets and have to apologise after.

Triathlons is a sign a man is heroic.

Oh dear, trying to play the boy card to one up me . Clearly in your old age you have become senile and your eyesight has made you see things that didnt exist.

I dont have an issue with Schumacher and Alonso because I dont se some 50+ year old man getting a hard on whenever they see him/crying whenever his name is mentioned in a bad light

posted on 27/11/12

Ah! One of those special people. The ones who hate Hamilton for no discernable reason.

Jersey is in the commonwealth but is not part of the UK. Jersey is as much part of the UK as Monaco if part of France or The Vatican City is part of Italy.

I like Hamilton, the hatred of him by people like yourself who are jealous of his lifestyle makes me laugh.

You will never achieve what he has, your will never be significant and your opinions just highlight how pathetic and biased you are.

You do not even know why Lewis and his dad ended the business relationship they had.

Di Resta fired his dad as well, maybe he wasn't doing a good job. A man with morals will not indulge in nepotism.

Are you suggesting a man with morals keeps his father in a job he isn't doing well? That's immoral.

Now you are contradicting yourself.

Going to his twitter page to find ammunition to mock him to make yourself feel good.

How sad is that

He keeps making the money, has the hot girlfriend and is living every racers dream, whilst you are crying on an internet forum waiting for mummy to change your diaper

Keep on hating the boy for reasons you choose not to apply to other drivers, who do worse things than him. However, their behaviour is fine, but Hamilton's isn't.

Interesting logic. Are you sure your problem is with his morals or is it something else

The mannerisms are so similar idenitical even 2 accounts to force the same message across eh? well why not eh?

I knew I was right do you ever have an argument with yourself?

Welshy my friend, I only have one account. WTCBU and I have very similar views like a couple of posters on the Utd board.

The admins can check and see if we are the same person. Please ask them to check, complain about my comment and they'll confirm it for you.

I'm just sick and tired of people who for no discernable reason just hate Hamilton but do not apply the same logic to other drivers.

If they did, I wouldn't respond to it. I criticise him as well but the vitriol directed at him for things is just ridiculous and it is sad to see
