Cardiff City have parted company with manager Neil Warnock.

The 70-year-old was in the final year of his contract at the Championship side and has said he would not carry on beyond the end of this season.

He was appointed in October 2016 and leaves with Cardiff 14th in the table after Sunday's loss to Bristol City.

"I am leaving my beloved Bluebirds after over three years of which have been some of the best days in my long football career," Warnock said.

"It is a shared belief that this is the right time for a new voice as we believe this squad of players is more than capable of getting success."

Cardiff have begun the search for a replacement and an announcement "will be made in due course".

The UK has fallen silent for the 101st Armistice Day since World War One to commemorate those who died in conflict.

It is the centenary of the first two-minute silence, held on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

The Royal British Legion called on the nation to put busy lives on pause, set aside differences and remember those who risked their lives.

Politicians marked the day by offering pledges to improve the lives of UK service personnel and their families.

The tradition of a two-minute silence to remember the dead began exactly a year after the end of World War One.

England manager Phil Neville says he would be "ashamed" of himself if he decided to step down because of their recent poor form.

The Lionesses suffered their fifth loss in seven matches on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat by Germany at Wembley Stadium.

They take on the Czech Republic in a friendly in Ceske Budejovice on Tuesday.

"If I walked away from that challenge I'd be ashamed of myself and my family would be ashamed in me," said Neville.

"I love this job and this set of players and I believe in what we are doing, and they believe in me."

Whatever you think of Neil, he can look back on a successful managerial career. He achieved eight promotions, more than any other Manager. I know he wasn't everyone's cup of tea, especially if you took him too seriously, but he was always entertaining and the game sadly lacks characters like him.

Macclesfield Town players have been advised not to play or train because they are currently not insured.

The advisory follows the first-team players' decision to strike and withhold their services for Sunday's FA Cup defeat by Kingstonian.

That game, which the club covered by fielding youth team players and loanees, was lost 4-0 at Moss Rose.

Players have refused to play as they wait to receive unpaid wages from the League Two club.
