The tale of four Greeks, whose fate is related to that of the giant ship; the only Greek passengers of the Titanic.

Their names were Panagiotis Lymberopoulos, Vassilios Katavelos, Apostolos and Demetrios Chronopoulos, and they all came from the same village, Agios Sostis of Messinia. Like many of the passengers, the four friends were young – the oldest one was only 33 years old – and they wanted to go to America in search of a better life.

Three former top Barclays executives have been cleared of fraud charges linked to how the bank raised billions from Qatar in the financial crisis.

The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) had alleged the bank had given Qatar secret fees that helped it to survive without a UK government bailout in 2008.

Roger Jenkins, Tom Kalaris, and Richard Boath were found not guilty on all charges by the jury in under six hours.

Former Barclays chief executive John Varley was acquitted in June 2019.

Naturalist Chris Packham has slammed the University of Cambridge for putting "absolutely outrageous" anti-bird nets over a row of trees.

Protective netting has appeared on more than 20 trees at the Whittle Laboratory on JJ Thomson Avenue in the city.

A university spokesman said the nets were added "to discourage birds from nesting" during building work.

On Thursday night climate activists from Extinction Rebellion cut down and removed a number of the nets.

Maroon 5 left Chilean fans disappointed after a strangely lacklustre show at the Viña del Mar festival on Thursday.

After taking to the stage 25 minutes late, singer Adam Levine appeared uncomfortable throughout his band's set, which was broadcast live on TV.

The star was "cold, reluctant and preoccupied," observed Santiago's La Tercera newspaper.

The show lasted a little more than an hour, with the band playing a truncated, 15-song set.

Four millennia ago an ancient Babylonian wrote down a lullaby sung by a mother to her child. It may have got the baby to sleep, but its message is far from soothing - and this remains a feature of many lullabies sung around the world today.

Deeply etched into a small clay tablet, which fits neatly into the palm of a hand, are the words of one of the earliest lullabies on record, dating from around 2,000BC.
