But Eduardo Vargas headed in an equaliser after Arturo Vidal's penalty had been saved.
Just before kick-off, Argentina legend Maradona was remembered with a dazzling light and effects display.
It saw a holographic version of the 1986 World Cup winner perform kick ups before clips of his goals were projected on to the pitch.
Maradona, one of the greatest ever footballers, died in November last year at the age of 60.

An Egyptian vulture has been seen in the UK for the first time in what is believed to be more than 150 years.
Described as a "once-in-a-century" sighting, it is thought it may have come to the Isles of Scilly from Northern France.
If the "incredibly rare" sighting is confirmed to be a wild bird, it would be the first since 1868, say experts.
Birdwatchers are expected to flock to the isles for a chance to spot it before it moves on.

The visitors took the lead just before the hour mark as Cuthbert tapped into an empty net after a mistake by Wales goalkeeper Laura O'Sullivan.
An even contest saw chances at both ends, with Jess Fishlock and Angharad James both testing Lee Alexander.
Cuthbert came closest to opening the scoring before the break, but crashed an effort off the crossbar.
For both managers, this contest in Llanelli was all about preparation for bigger challenges to come.
