Netflix has bought the rights to Roald Dahl's classic children's books from the author's family.

The deal means the streaming giant will own creations like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The BFG.

Netflix will control what happens to them in publishing as well as TV and film - and receive the royalties.

It will also create numerous spin-off games, stage shows and other live experiences. Neither side would reveal how much the deal is worth.

The takeover means The Roald Dahl Story Company - which is run by Dahl's grandson Luke Kelly and was previously owned by the family and other employees - will now become a division of Netflix.

It earned £26m revenue from the author's work in 2019, according to its latest accounts.

In a joint statement, Mr Kelly and Netflix boss Ted Sarandos said they were "joining forces to bring some of the world's most loved stories to current and future fans in creative new ways".

Steve Stricker has urged the United States fans to not "cross the line" and be "respectful to both teams" in this week's Ryder Cup match against Europe.

Rory McIlroy had to ask for an abusive fan to be removed from Hazeltine during the last Ryder Cup in the US in 2016.

"It's going to be rowdy. It's going to be loud and pro-USA, obviously so we're looking forward to that. We need that backing," said US captain Stricker.

"Hazeltine crossed the line at times, which we don't want to see."

The incident involving McIlroy, who was playing with Thomas Pieters in a fourballs match, happened on the eighth hole and the Northern Irishman said he pointed out "one particular guy who said a few derogatory things" and "took it a bit too far".

Fyfe's manager Maxine Hoffman said the Scottish actor was "the most delightful client anyone could wish for".

He was "a truly talented and versatile actor and much loved by everyone he worked with", she added.

The Premier League could have a seven-week mid-season break in 2022-23 to accommodate the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

At a meeting on Wednesday, it was proposed the next campaign would stop after the weekend of November 12 before fixtures resumed again on 26 December.

The season is also set to begin a week earlier than normal on 6 August and finish a week later on 28 May.

That would therefore push both the Champions League and FA Cup finals into June.

The clubs were shown an outline calendar at a shareholders' meeting.

That's where the paint job comes in. The rover beings as a shiny aluminum that is then painted white to reflect sunlight and help the rover from overheating. Unlike the paint we put on cars, this paint is far more durable. It's made to endure the extreme temperatures of Mars, which can range from 70 degrees Fahrenheit, 20 degrees Celsius, near the equator, to minus 100 degrees Fahrenheit, minus 73 degrees Celsius. In fact, you can still see sections of white paint on NASA's Curiosity rover, which has been on Mars since 2012.

Derby County have a "viable future", according to the administrators appointed to run the club.

Business adviser firm Quantuma were put in charge on Wednesday, triggering an automatic 12-point deduction from the English Football League.

Derby have "tens of millions of pounds" of debts but there are no plans to "tinker with the playing side".

Joint administrator Andrew Hosking said: "There is a considerable degree of interest in this club."

He continued: "A lot of it was expressed prior to administration.

"Now that the club is in administration, notwithstanding the points deduction and clearly the distress to the supporters, the staff and suppliers to the club, we do consider that the position to be able to make a successful conclusion to the story is now really very, very practical.

"We don't consider the obstacles that we face at this stage insurmountable."

A homecoming event for US Open champion Emma Raducanu will be shown live on the BBC on Friday.

The 18-year-old's historic win in New York this month ended Britain's 44-year wait for a women's Grand Slam title.

The programme will be available to watch on the BBC iPlayer, Red Button and online from 12:30 BST, with a repeat on BBC Two from 15:15.
