Welsh independence is one of the options to be considered by a commission examining Wales' future relationship with the rest of the UK.

The new body, set up by Welsh Labour ministers, will look at how the current system of powers resting in Cardiff and London could change.

Co-chairwoman Prof Laura McAllister said "everything has to be on the table".

But the Conservatives accused ministers of wasting time and resources.

Prof McAllister will lead the new Independent Constitutional Commission alongside ex-Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams.

They do not believe Wales' current constitutional arrangements are sustainable, and plan to talk to people around the country.

No charges have been laid and Mr Slater has not commented publicly.

He has since held prominent positions on TV but was let go last week by Australia's Channel Seven, which cited financial pressures.

The magnificent Patson Daka scored four coolly-taken goals as Leicester boosted their Europa League qualification hopes by brilliantly coming back from two goals down to beat Spartak Moscow.

The Zambia international has had limited opportunities to assert himself in the Foxes first team this season, but demonstrated the clever movement and composure in front of goal that prompted them to part with £22m to sign him from Red Bull Salzburg last summer.

MICK McCARTHY:

With Wednesday's defeat sinking Cardiff down to 21st in the Championship table, it all looks very bleak at the minute. But McCarthy knows the score. All he can do, he said, was keep turning up and preparing his troops for Boro this weekend.

"It leaves me on the back end of a really horrible run of results," he said when asked where this defeat leaves him.

"And if football is true to its usual stuff then we know what happens.

"I came in on the back of a defeat by Swansea, we've certainly had a much better performance, and I'll be doing exactly the same for Middlesbrough unless I'm told different.

"I can’t do any more than what I’m doing. I certainly can’t try harder than I am. TC and I are giving it everything."

The care system faces "a tsunami of unmet need" this winter, England's health and social care watchdog has warned in a report.

The workforce is "exhausted and depleted," says Care Quality Commission (CQC) chief executive, Ian Trenholm.

The report urges immediate work to address the problem of rising numbers of unfilled care sector jobs.

On Thursday the government announced an extra £162.5m to boost the adult social care workforce.

This is in addition to £5.4bn earmarked for social care over the next three years from the government's health and social care levy, which already includes £500m to be spent on the workforce.

The CQC welcomes the money but has a warning: "It must be used to enable new ways of working that recognise the interdependency of all health and care settings, not just to prop up existing approaches and to plug demand in acute care."

The Welsh government says climate change could increase the risk of landslides from disused coal tips - and is calling on the UK government to allocate funds to make hundreds of high-risk tips safe.

The devolved administration wants more than half a billion pounds from the UK to carry out work on more than 320 high-risk coal tips across Wales.

Wales' finance minister says if more money isn't allocated in next week's Spending Review, it will have to look again at funding for school and hospital projects.

The call comes on the 55th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster, which left 144 people dead, including 116 children, when a coal tip landslide engulfed a classroom at Pantglas Junior School on 21 October 1966.

Second-hand car prices are rising at "unprecedented rates", the AA has said, as more people consider buying used cars amid a low supply of new vehicles.

Research by the motoring group suggests the price of the UK's most popular cars have increased up to 57% since 2019.

Three to five-year-old Ford Fiestas, the most popular on its AA Cars website, were now valued at £9,770 compared to £7,448 two years ago.

Industry figures said "nearly new" used cars were in particular high demand.

Price rises have been driven by a number of factors.
