John Sheridan has agreed to return as Oldham Athletic head coach for his sixth stint in charge of the club.

The League Two side are bottom, seven points adrift of safety, following a 3-0 defeat by Harrogate on Saturday.

The 57-year-old, who has twice guided the club to survival, was last in charge at Boundary Park five years ago.

Interim boss Selim Benachour replaced Keith Curle in November but leaves the job with no league wins since his promotion from being an academy coach.

A brief club statement read: "Oldham Athletic can confirm that this evening John Sheridan has agreed to return as head coach with immediate effect.

"More details will follow next week but the club would like to thank Selim Benachour for his time in interim charge."

Goals from Georgios Giakoumakis and Liel Abada earned Celtic a Scottish Cup last-16 place - but only after a late fright against League 1 Alloa Athletic.

Greek striker Giakoumakis' tidy finish opened the scoring before Israeli winger Abada curled in a fine second.

Conor Sammon's late header gave the part-timers hope as the visitors passed up a flurry of second-half chances.

But Barry Ferguson's third-tier side were unable to force extra-time as Celtic saw the game out comfortably.

The League Cup holders will welcome Raith Rovers in the last 16 on weekend of 12/13 February.

An unseasonal wildfire is raging in California's Monterey County, forcing evacuations and the closure of Highway 1, US officials say.

The National Weather Service (NWS) reported a "surreal fire behaviour given the wet Oct and Dec".

The blaze along the Big Sur Pacific coast, dubbed the Colorado Fire, has scorched about 1,500 acres (607 ha).

Strong winds pushed the fire toward the sea, and flames were seen burning near the famous Bixby Creek Bridge.

Senior forestry and fire protection official Mike Meddles said firefighters from 13 agencies from around California's central coast had been deployed to tackle the blaze, according to KTLA digital channel.

Superman: The New Superman Adventures, commonly referred to as Superman 64, is an action-adventure game developed and published by Titus Interactive for the Nintendo 64 and based on the television series Superman: The Animated Series. Released in North America on May 31, 1999, and in Europe on July 23, 1999, it is the first 3D Superman game.

posted on 26/1/22

Development of Superman began in 1997 and was largely hampered by constraints between Titus and the game's licensors, Warner Bros. and DC Comics, leaving little room for polishing the gameplay. BlueSky Software attempted to redo the game for the PlayStation, but this version was ultimately cancelled, as Titus's license with Warner Bros. had expired by the time it was completed. With three E3 presentations and positive press coverage before its release, Superman 64 was released to strong sales and positive consumer reception; however, critical reviews were extremely negative, claiming it to be one of the worst video games ever made and panning its unresponsive controls, technical flaws, repetitive gameplay, overuse of distance fog, and poor graphics.
