Are you playing it just in time for the new series?
I appreciate the effort put into the game, but the pacing, the storyline and the way they killed Joel off put it's no better than a 6/10 for me.
I was looking forward to that game so much too lol.

No, not for the new series. Was playing the first one with my nieces and nephews over the holidays and thought I'd see this game out.
The story so far is just a bit stupid. Two teenagers going cross country to take on an army of savage rebel fighters for a revenge mission? And winning? Really?
They should've just killed Tommy, made Joel go off on his own and Ellie catch up to him (letting the player play as both).
I also have a feeling Abby is going to be totally justified in killing Joel as he murdered so many goddamn people. I'm not in the mood to sympathise with her given how long the game is taking.
Pretty much spot on, it seems like considering the writers they hired that they won't be changing anything for the second series despite splitting opinion.

Joel + Ellie taking on the country was unrealistic too, but at least he was a hardened savage with literal decades of experience. And they started off with Tess who had to sacrifice herself to save them.
Two teenagers surviving without so much as a scratch so far is just taking the biscuit. In fact, they had to make dina pregnant to show hardship! What?! And while I've grown to like Dina and I'd be sad if she died, it's just not the same as Joel protecting Ellie and eventually realising she's replaced his dead daughter.
I'm complaining a lot, but it's still a decent game. Good gameplay, and some touching scenes. When Ellie went through Joel's house and the museum flashback for instance. I don't see myself replaying it though.

The first series was good, missing a few elements from the game, but that's to be expected given these things just don't translate very well.
Even if the plot stays the same, the second series might actually be end up better than the game.
I still can't believe they killed Joel like that.
If we assume the Tommy getting killed story I mentioned above, joel should've died at the very end trying to protect Ellie, who caught up. Or she has to kill him as he got infected. It would've been so much more gut wrenching. But it ends up being ok, because she's really proven she can look after herself now.
Jeez.
It's so stupid how battle hardened veterans like him and Tommy meet a bunch of strangers and announce who they are.
Like 1man said, they just wanted to kill Joel and get him out the way.
Yeah I had similar thoughts. If you're literally known for being a savage murderer, maybe it's better to have a fake name with new people.
But I thought about it more and in fairness they first met when they were surrounded by an army of infected, the panic as they were coming up with an escape plan meant that their names would've slipped out regardless.
And yeah. They made this the Elliegbtq game. Which I wouldn't have been massively against if there were a proper storyline
It's just when they went into the house that the gang was in, there was no instinct kicking in about these people or anything. Just didn't match up for Joel or Tommy in my opinion.
Resumed play last night and switched it off after half an hour because they've introduced dogs now. Which I suppose makes sense but they're so annoying. Will try again tonight

The Football Association has rejected proposals for Wales' four English Football League clubs to qualify for Europe via a Welsh domestic cup.
Cardiff City, Swansea City, Wrexham and Newport County had been working with the Football Association of Wales on plans to enter a revamped Welsh League Cup, with the winners qualifying for the Europa Conference League.
But after the EFL and some of its other member clubs raised concerns, the FA board ruled against the plans following a meeting on Thursday.
The FA said it "undertook a thorough consultation with stakeholders" and rejected the proposals following "concerns raised by stakeholders regarding competition integrity, fixture congestion and player welfare, and the impact on the standing of existing competitions".
In response, the FAW said it was "disappointed" with the decision, having previously said the new competition and its benefits would have been "game-changing" for Welsh football at all levels.

WH Smith is in talks to sell its high street stores, the British retailer has said.
The firm said that it was "exploring potential strategic options for this profitable and cash-generative part of the group, including a possible sale" in a statement on Saturday.
It went on to say that over the past decade, the business had become "a focused global travel retailer", with its travel arm having more than 1,200 stores across 32 countries.
The announcement comes amid a difficult economic outlook for high street retailers and following years of unfavourable consumer sentiment towards the chain.
The first of WH Smith's more than 520 high street stores opened more than 230 years ago, operating as a news vendor. It has since grown into a major high street and travel retailer.
The travel retail business side of WH Smith - which operates from airports, train stations and hospitals - now accounts for more than 85% of its profit. The high street business makes up the rest.
The retailer said there was "no certainty that any agreement will be reached", but added that it would provide updates on the possible sale.
WH Smith was valued at £1.5bn at the close of business on Friday. That figure represents the value of the entire group.
Catherine Shuttleworth, a consumer retail analyst at Savvy Marketing, said shopping behaviour in the UK had "radically changed", reducing the reasons to visit stores like WH Smith.
"Most of us read our news online not in magazines and newspapers, we download books and send birthday cards through online operators," she said.
The focus for a business like WH Smith was now "in shops in high footfall areas like airports, stations and hospitals," Ms Shuttleworth added.

South Korea's impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol has been charged with insurrection after he attempted to declare martial law in December.
His ill-fated attempt to impose military rule plunged the country into an unprecedented political crisis and he becomes the first sitting president in South Korean history to be charged with a crime.
The indictment comes after a court in Seoul rejected a request to extend Yoon's detention on Saturday, which meant prosecutors had to make a decision on whether to charge or release him before Monday.
"The punishment of the ringleader of insurrection now begins finally," Han Min-soo, a spokesman from the main opposition Democratic Party told a press conference.
Separately, the Constitutional Court has begun deliberations on whether to formally dismiss Yoon as president or reinstate him.
The impeached president has largely refused to co-operate with the criminal investigation over the martial law declaration.
Yoon is set to stand trial along with his former defence minister and senior military commanders, who are accused of helping him plan and carry out the attempt to seize total power.
In an unprecedented televised announcement on 3 December, Yoon said he was invoking martial law to protect the country from "anti-state" forces that sympathised with North Korea.

Kazuyoshi "Kazu" Miura (三浦 知良, Miura Kazuyoshi, born 26 February 1967), nicknamed King Kazu, is a Japanese professional footballer who plays as a forward for Japan Football League club Atletico Suzuka, on loan from J2 League club Yokohama FC. He is the world's oldest active player to play and score in a professional match.
He played for the Japan national team from 1990 to 2000, and was the first Japanese recipient of the IFFHS Asia's Footballer of the Year award. Miura, whose rise to fame in Japan coincided with the launch of the J.League in 1993, was arguably Japan's first superstar in football. He is also known for his trademark "Kazu Feint" and his famous "Kazu dance", when he scores notable goals or produces such plays.
Miura holds the records for being the oldest active goalscorer in the J-League, the footballer with the world's longest professional career, and, as of 2025, is the oldest professional footballer in the world at 57. He also holds the unique distinction of having played professional football in five separate decades (1980s–2020s). His elder brother Yasutoshi is a former professional footballer.
