Good match to watch though 38, you have to admit that?
With time at the end at 2-2, why did Petrov, Butterfield, Ngog or Afobe not get minutes...?
Anyone Bolton fan who went answer this...?
Butterfield got a few minutes last week and none today, now heads back to Norwich... What exactly was the point...??
Afobe is pants, but why Ngog doesn't command a starting place is beyond me. All your threat came from midfield today. If you'd been braver and put another man up front I reckon you'd have won comfortably
when it went end to end we looked much better at it than them..
the less people we have "defending" the better we are at it..
ball watching and standing about in the box with opponents spare on the edge isnt any sort of tactic..
smithies made a great save in the first few minutes and his obligatory penalty save and he looked better than the last few weeks in his all round stuff.. its hard against bolton with their big lads..
with davies up front you have to decide before the game how you are going to play him, we dropped off for periods and he headed it on to nobody or to smithies, then we started getting tight and it cost us..why change whats working for you??
When we play at pace we look usefull and dangerous, if we slow it down we look ponderous and it always breaks down..
Great goal from vaughan and then he nearly won it, but that was from the first decent stuff into him or near him for the whole second half..???
We will certainly win more than we lose if we can replicate the last 15 minutes or so of todays game in others for a bit longer..
We cant defend in open play in or on the edge of our own box, we must stop doing it..
MT pass??? Maybe he just does not rate them and they will be in the shop window in a couple of weeks. With no Sordell in the squad again I hope that waste of wages is moved on to.
Lurpac is better...........
38, it is the same with most teams...dropping deep with numbers thinking that will keep you 'safe', and 8 times out of 10 it doesn't work. It's the rigidity of the FA coaching system...if only some managers had a mind of their own and chucked the blooming manual on the fire...
If you hold a line at halfway, you need pace to match the opposition..Town don't have that at CB...similarly Smithies who could play the extra defender but doesn't quite know when to come and when to stay...
The back four have to be solid and work as a unit...our problem was when Morrison went back to Reading because he bossed the back 4 for us...now we've got PC doing it again. On the radio they said Dixon was shouting at the defence to move up......
Talking to a Bolton Fan on way to stadium and he agreed that Bogdan should have seen
Can anyone explain why he didn't!
Thought Bolton were worth a victory today and if they had a goal scorer they would have won!
jacko..
ive seen town play whole games without hitting the halfway line or sitting in the box /edge of it..
it gives a depth of defending that we need without being close to our own goal and we dont get caught too far up with a long ball or a flick on..
we did it for a good deal of the first half today, loads of balls ended up running through to smithies or picked up easily by clarke or gerrard.. second half we dropped back to the edge of the box, everyone ran away from where the ball was and we got picked off???
i have no idea why we do this...??
we seem to want to overload the defensive third which hasnt worked for us for as long as i can remember...we have 7 players back in the box and still are not picking up at least two opponents?? whats the bloody point in going back then??
smithies must be getting sick of clarke and others "blocking" his view of curlers from the 18 yard line, all we do is make it impossible for him to see the ball.. someone HAS to move out towards the ball... getting tired of saying it and getting very annoyed watching it, week in week out..
it is like watching an under 10s defence, all run back and try and get in the way?????
I think Bolton's best player was Bogdan, by a country mile......
Eagles looked interested from time to time, but spent most of the afternoon stood watching....
K Davies = Moaning old barsterd.....Is he related to '38'.....?
The rest were just going throught the notions...
Town were generally the best side on the park today, some massive improvements from last week, and we deserved to win it late on...If it wasn't for that damned Bogdan......
Looking forwards to Hull game next Saturday already...
UTT...
keeper didnt get sent off because there were a sh-tload of bolton players around the ball and at least two behind the goalie..
booking....quite rightly..
not sure how spearing can trip 3 town players during the game and not get booked??
ref and linos were making calls all game that they couldnt really have seen or be sure about..
to those that say bolton should have won, we had more proper attempts on target than they did.. including the nearly own goal at the end.. having the possession and getting into dangerous "positions" does not count...
novak hit the bar and their keeper made a couple of very sharp saves.. boltons efforts were more from scrambles and long shots..
the penalty decision looks odd because he had "tried" to fall over twice before he got in the box and then went down in instalments... maybe a ref might crack on that the bloke is "looking" for the decision???
I would like to know "exactly" what novak said to the lino to get booked???
Watch a premier league match on sky and listen to the torrents of abuse throughout the game towards the linos,
"you f-cking useless blind c-nt" was just one of a selection from a well known premier league star last week..(nothing happened-no wiggling the flag from the lino etc)!!!!
What the hell did novak say that could have been "worse" than that????
I think the lino was just having a poor day and got his own back for being a "useless fat c-nt"...??
Hull City away...great stadium...we get behind the goals too..or at least a corner (last time I went).
Don't leave any valuables in your car..like plastic bags etc
More points slip through our grip, I don't understand why we persist with Davies playing. On a brighter note it seems Mavies did a good job again today, hopefully Holden comes back soon and we can push on. The gap to the play-offs is getting very large though now. I worry.
The goalie had players around him, but handled out of his area! Is that not a anymore?
no..it has to stop a goal scoring opportunity..it wasnt one, he caught it went out of the box and dropped it, it went to their full back and then the ref whistled.. we were not in any position to score and he had actually caught it first before overstepping..
he then proceeded to make a few very good saves, especially the one from point blank range from his own player....sh-t.....
im happy with a point today lads. much improved performance too
Happy with a point as second half seemed a long one again! Next two games are tough ones too!
Sounds like a cracking match.
A point a piece will do nicely.
holden it was a great match could easily have been 5-5
Norwood back to his best today...
Clayton as usual, best man on the park
Novak = Novak =
Hunt, MOM, can't argue with that
Clarke & Gerrard, Steady away
Church, his best game yet, but jewry is out still
Vaughan, grew as a player, as the game went on, finished the game as the most dangerous man on the park....
Assuming Southern plays next week, we will stuff anybody with the attitude we played with today....
90 minutes (100+) of very good football....Nice to be in this league, just got to make sure we stay here next season....
church was still anonymous for me myth. jury is close for comments. church out
Boy oh boy have we missed Southern these last 3 games! With him back & Vaughan fit again i am tipping Town to win at Dull next week, & yes Dull isn't a phone error! In the end a lucky point for me today.
Sorry I didn't see/respond to requests for a summary at half time.
A fantastic game of football and a brilliant atmosphere in the away end at the second half, it was magic.
I've ended up doing the Transpennine Real Ale Trail on the way back from the game and am writing this 11 pints on an empty stomach worse for wear.
I think Huddersfield just about deserved a point today, as soon as I saw Eagles put the penalty down on the spot I knew he would fail.
The only way we were ever going to get a penalty would be an absolutely blatant foul in the box, such was the referee's reluctance to give Bolton any of the big decisions, IMO.
Saw some really poor tackles ignored, obvious yellows just being given as free kicks, mostly in Huddersfield's favour but a few of ours.
Three fantastic goals today, a great game to watch. It was Huddersfield's first half and Bolton's second half.
Sadly, from our point of view, we can't continue to start games so poorly, only turning up in the second half, if we want to cling on to our outside chance of making a play off place. This has to change and quickly.
This joint thread has been a great read, thank you to the Huddersfield guys for everything.
ha ha...did you see the Wendies have a last minute equaliser ruled out by the ref...?
stopped the game 'cos some wendies players were claiming a handball seconds before, and manhandling the ref, while everybody else played on and they scored...ref blew his whistle so goal was disallowed...ha ha ha
I saw it Jacko, i thought Wednesday would have a good season!
Very disappointed with this result.
Bolton's starting 11 might be the best we have come up against this season but the effort they put in i think was that worst. I didn't see them win a single 50-50 or chase down anything. Felt they were there for the taking but we let them into it straight after half time and as usual fell to pieces as soon as we let one in. By the time the heads were clear from letting the first in we had given away a penalty and another goal.
Had we gone at them like we did at the end all game we would have won comfortable.
The other thing can anyone name a game we won where Novak started wide, either on the wing or as a 3, it simply doesn't work.
