I don't think the standing issue will ride with this one...besides, KSDL will not spend money on terracing...that is defo a dead duck.

Let's take one issue at a time..if we get the south stand we can make our own arrangements from there..let's get it first.

I've emailed Nigel Clibbens out of courtesy and to ask for the support of HTAFC. If the topic comes up at fridays SAG meeting, it's best to let Town know in advance if we're going to try and gather allies. We might need them.

On Friday 7th December women from around "Yorkshire came to The John Smith’s Stadium to enjoy The Ultimate Girl’s Night Out. The Pamper Party, part of the stadium’s Christmas Party series saw guests enjoy a champagne c ock.."

They are all missing a trick Jacko, Town have a readymade area for euro terrace, Loads of publicity if they backed it, pushed for it, and became the first to trial such a stand,, Just the right sort of size to fit the current criteria spoken about,,,,, While Robinson is in charge of the stadium and we are in this division we will never have a chance to try any alternatives, And little chance of going in the south stand,,,

So high pathetically ...

If we did get access to the South Stand...it became 'The Home End'..
(and we ALL stood up..like the visitors do)

Who on here would patronize it !
Darn has his hand up

Had a reply from Steve King (HTSA) this morning.
He says Nigel Clibbens has said the lack of demand by fans when the South Stand was opened before has turned him off this issue now.

It would have to be a significant level of support for this for him to change his mind........

So how do we test what the demand is chaps ?

Over to you.......

I am waiting for Nigel to confirm his position on this to me meanwhile, if he replies to my email sent last night.

In addition one of the HTSA committee members tried to run this issue a while back, so I'm trying to get hold of him and see how far he get and why he didn't succeed.

Wethers, keep on topic mate, you've got your own thread for match threads.. if this becomes cluttered with other stuff it'll just go off topic, like most threads do.... I've put my name down for one of the games anyway...and am working on the Hull City one.

Jacko, email Oldham Athletic and ask them how they manage it, I'm pretty sure they'd run you through how they work it

They have e-mail in Oldham now?

Aren't Wolves similar? Saw games at Molyneaux last year where away fans were seated in different areas. For example, the QPR fans had half the stand behind the goal at the right hand side as the TV cameras look at it, yet When they played Man City, the City fans were all along the bottom tier of the stand down the side of the pitch. Might be worth asking them too?

I guess one way would be to open up the stand for home fans and see how many go in. Oh, we did that and not many bothered.

The bottom line on this is that some fans are really bothered but most are not. End of story.

Agreed eggnog, Jacko & Darn have a huge bee in their bonnets regarding this subject, I haven't commented because like most fans I arn't bothered.

I have thought a bit more about the strategy for this....

At the moment the priorities are..

a) get HTAFC on board
b) Get SAG to do the risk assessment
c) Contact KSDL , get them on board, discuss cost implications and any impact the HDOne design has on our plans.
d) Survey the fans to get support

At the moment I'm not inclined to think that feedback from other clubs who have shared stands would help. The SAG will hopefully agree to risk assess the options for housing away fans, and this will be unique to our own Stadium configuration. What works for Oldham might not apply at the JSS. Without SAG coming up with a workable proposal we'd be in trouble. That would be the point where we could analyse the assessment and try and argue the risks supported with the information from other clubs ..there is no point gathering this info if we will never need it, imo.

I've been invited to go to the HTSA committee meeting on 3rd January where we can discuss these issues and plan a strategy to gain support and determine how we can survey the fans to show there is enough support for this.

I do believe having HTSA on board is the right route, and I would encourage all Town fans to join. As I've already said, the bigger the representation HTSA have, the greater their influence. Random groups of supporters carries no weight at all.

Not yet heard from Nigel Cribbens., which sort of proves the above point.

Keep your thoughts and ideas coming, it's all good background stuff and useful to have

It's not that at all Wethers,eggnog.. The club did very little to advertise certain games in advance, infant I remember 1 game where they only announced it about 5hrs before kick off. For certain games you had to change your ticket in advance if the day(to help them judge how much security would be needed.

Simple fact is they could offer let's say 1200/1500 tickets at the start of the season for season card holders and I'm quite sure these would sell, but only on the provision that they would have to move elsewhere in the ground for certain high profile games and at no extra cost

It was poorly advertised that's for sure. Whilst I don't have a bee in my bonnet over the issue, if someone gave me the choice to sit in any stand at the JSS I would, without a doubt, choose that south stand.

I've already stated that my main preference is the gradient of it, as well as us having our own 'popular' end of the ground. I also believe that when that end is full of away supporters it gives the visiting team a huge boost. Birmingham, Leicester, Leeds, Norwich, Bradford....all teams that have filled or pretty much filled that end and before and come away with a positive result. And that's just from searching my memory bank for 60 seconds.

In fact, does anyone (Mirf?) have any information regarding how we've faired in home games against teams that have brought in excess of 3,000 fans since the stadium opened?! I would be willing to bet that it doesn't make pleasant reading.

It DOES make a difference.

No Wethers, all you've done is try and hijack the thread mate...

Seriously though...Both sides of the argument are valuable input..I'm not doing this for 'me' you know..I'm just trying to do something that might up the atmosphere a bit, and maybe get a few more fans down. I realise there is a lot of apathy about this, but even those who 'are not bothered' would probably find themselves going in the South Stand if it was available.

The reason I started off on this, if you remember, was to 'ask the questions '...so we knew categorically why it was not an option. If it comes back that it is a workable option...then we ask the fans if they would use it, when they know it's not just pie in the sky but is actually on offer to them.

If there is still no support, then so be it...but at least that will be an informed choice by the fans. Then any fans moaning at lack of atmosphere will just have to accept that they are part of the problem...

! A home end with 4,000 all singing all dancing would be great, it has been tried, but like eggnog says it wasn't successful.

I think only because the powers that be didn't want it to be a success.

They wheeled out that everytime we used it, it cost a extra 5k for stewarding/policing....where did this figure come from and how is it justified

No one can convince me that it costs more to steward Town fans in the South Stand than it does to steward them when they are scattered around the stadium...

On that basis, it must be cheaper then to put away fans somewhere else ???
