We know nothing about the figures, it's all speculation, let's just see what happens eh?

He would be an idiot to walk out on the chance that he has with us. LFC is no ordinary football club.

I would be angry if the clubs balance sheet took precedence over securing a future English star, potentially worth a fortune in merchandising. If he keeps his feet on the ground, works hard and avoids injury.

Football and wise and business wise, shouldn't be an option, unless he wants to move to London. The manager and FSG have to get him to do the sensible thing and sign. If they don't it will be mistake.

Heard from some pretty good sources that he will sign his new contract tomorrow

If we haven't heard by the weekends up I will start to worry as well, but not yet

Money is an issue with Raheem. He has already taken his first step towards the dark side. Suso signed and showed his commitment and that's what I like to see.

I imagine his agent is saying he is one of our best players and he plays for England and as such we want £45k.

We'll be saying, well he is only a kid and we put him there so £20k.

Exactly and after a time of playing hard to get with each other, they'll meet in the middle.

I am behind rodgers on this. He has not even had a full season or achieved amythibg to demand sort of koney he is reportedly asking. I would rather say here is 25k a week and if u get us into the chsmp league then we will increase the pay to 40k a week

I'm sure a 17 year old from liverpool really takes this into consideration when he is going to sign a contract

Its a difficult situation for liverpool. Unfortunately sterling is top talent, and I am pretty sure he will definitely sign. But if he pushes for a big contract what are you going to do? Obviously you need to keep ur big assets, but you would hate for players egos to start to run the club! Unfortunately, football agents try their best to ruin football.

I reckon he will end up resiging between the 35-40 k mark.

It is a tough one as anyone with a brain can see he is probably going to be England's star player if he keeps advancing...

How much could he end up being worth by the time he is 24/25? 40? 50 million?

Even though we don't want to pay perhaps over the odd's in wages he could be worth to much in the future to not pay it...

Edin,

Why wouldn't signing for a massive club not be attractive? When under that club he is playing regular first team football and has just made his international debut.

The first part of your post is a steaming pile of Hotspur. The second part is spot on.

Massive club or not he would much rather sign for smaller football clubs like chelsea or man city for the same playing time/wage as he knows they are clubs more likely to go places. Ultimately players don't really care much about a clubs history, they care much more about the future

the smart thing to do is sign a 3 year extension with Liverpool, theres no point going to a club where he's gonna play in reserves or sit on the bench but the problem is if hes gonna be a first teamer he would probably like to be paid accordingly, even though hes 18 hes currently worth more to Liverpool than Cole or Downing, I think Liverpool should grind their teeth and just pay him the 35-40k hes looking for..

'Same playing time' .

Of course he's going to just stroll past players such as Silva, Mata, Hazard, Moses, Nasri, Milner, Dyer and whoever else there sugar daddy owners take a fancy to.

I didn't say he would get the same playing time, I said that he would rather play at these clubs if he got the same playing time.

Please read what I just said, not what you misunderstood

Just by the way, If Chelsea are a smaller football club, does that make Totenham a tiny football club?

Maybe he would, but that's not going to happen.

i agree with number 21 at his age they should be a fixed wage remember he is only a child if rumours are true that he is demanding 50k he should be horse whipped

at his age the wage cap should be 500 pounds no more give them any more than that and they get greedy just look at manu (progba/morrision??)

Sterling is playing regular first team football and has been great. Pogba and Morrison, hardly kicked a ball in the first team. Not a fair comparison at all.

There shouldn't be a fixed wage, his age has nothing to do with it. At the beginning of the the season he kept Downing out of the team and made the left wing(?) his own, so He deserves to to paid what he deserves ... and £500 a week with 2 kids is tough for famous people

Sterling is currently holding all the aces playing as regularly and as well as he has. Being English just adds more millions to his potential value.

It's a travesty that young players earn so much, but until something is done within the rules, to keep a player like him means paying the going rate, within reason.

30 - 50k would seem reasonable. Hopefully performance related.
