I suspect Claude Davies wont figure too highly in this poll.
Kevin Hector
Difficult but.Mcay,Mac,toddy,nishy.Charlie,Kev,oohMark,Igor,Eranio,picolo pirate,
Think that just about covers the best.
We had a defender ,centre half i think back in 91/92 we all used to call him pixie, because he had a face like a pixie supposedly,?anyone put a name to him.
Andy Comyn??

Paulo Wanchope. Incredible player and I will never forget that goal against Man United.
Todd in 1975.
McFarland was probably better over his entire career but the second championship owed everything to Colin Todd who was Beckenbauer-esque for the whole season.
Charlie George / Kevin Hector, super talented players.
So many to choose from, but I am with OOE here Colin Todd.
Should be a shout on Charlie George, Roy McFarland, Igor Stimac too.
They weren't the best but as a kid I really liked (idolised) Bruce Rioch, Leighton James and David Langan.
Roy Mac (often play golf with him, we are members at same club), Stimac, Charlie George, Kev, all above, too many to mention..
Great shout for David Langan, remember him well and often drive past his old house, remembering him every time.
Also had a 'thing' about Alan Biley too . Not the best but perhaps a favourite of mine as a kid
I'm with OOE.
I suspect if Roy Mac hadn't had that achilles problem ruining the back-end of his career it'd be different, but things were the way they were, so Toddy for me.
Vic Moreland and Billy Caskey are indelibly stained on my mind.
With Eddie on this one: Colin Todd - simply majestic
I'm a late 80's starter so my talent pool is lower
A few who spring to mind are Saunders, Wright, Stimac & Young Will.
Easy to get torn between the best player you've ever seen and your favorite player.
For me, the best player I have ever seen that played for Derby was Gorgi Kinkladze. You always felt that something good was going to happen when he got the ball. My favorite player was Mark Wright. A world class centre half.
I was a bit too young to fully appreciate the 70's players. The best era's for me were the mid-late 80's, early 90's and mid-late 90's.
Biano, Asanovic, Poom, Saunders, Shilton, Callaghan, Wanchope, Stimac, Van-Der-Laan. All great players.
MILF - When did Will Young play for Derby?
Or are you saying you like Young Willie?
I'd like to add my voice to the growing Colin Todd clamour as well - he was always calm and unruffled, seemed like he had hours to play the ball.
And those white boots were too.
Other honourable mentions to Ooh Mark, Igor, Asanovic, and Georgie Kinkladze.
Favourites (but not most talented players as such) would include Gladys Hinton (it must be a white boot thing for me!), the Tin Man and also Willie Carlin.
The above mentioned were all great but I think there's a difference between skilled and effective. Some were effective and skilled.
George, Todd, Stimac, McKay, Hector, O'Hare was a great target man..
Eranio and Asanovich and for very brief spell - McGrath were all great. But I think Charlie George was perhaps the best in my life time. I saw Carter, Docherty, Billy Steel and Johnnie Morris but I was too young to be objective in those days.
Kinkcladze was great too but not very effective - or maybe - not allowed to be very effective by the manager and he never had a regular place. But when he had the ball you always felt something was going to happen.
I wonder why Jim Smith did not appear to rate him?
Its hard to pick a best player but id soon pick a player from an era. I agree with OOE that Todd was close to the perfect defender the season Roy Mac was injured...Hector was class...then came Charlie George...i also liked Gerry Daly...Ive seen 2 Bucko's for Derby..Steve Buckley a left back wholehearted player with a quality left foot..Bobby Davison...natural goalscorer...I thought John Gregory was brought in and did exactly what he was brought in to do...Dean Saunders...an upgrade of Bobby Davison...Stimac & Asanovic...raised the level and carried players with them...Eranio...beautiful player....Kinkladze..on his day unstoppable (not enuf of em tho)....and i think im seeing the start of a player that will be held in that compant as well in Will Hughes. Different players...different era's.
