Well that wasn't concise at all, but have a drink anyway, it's New Years
Dr. Seven. You are clearly a man of letters, and words, all of which I cannot challenge. What burns through is a frustration, of many years in the wilderness. I share your grief. Our team lacks quality, which will not be made up, especially in the short term. The day will come, undoubtedly, when we will arise, Phoenix-like to our rightful place. We will get there. jimmyTheRed
Go on the Jimmy and your metaphors & similies!
Yeah, the past few years have been intensely annoying, but our fans putting their fingers in their ears, screaming "La la la la" and ignoring our regression and other teams' progression is starting to grate.
If anyone has ideas about what we could be doing better, that's fine. Blindly toeing the "We're Liverpool and should expect better" line is detached from the reality of the situation, though.
I agree with everything except for number 4 - I mean I done a five team accumulator this weekend and last and both came up. pfft, what a load of nonsense.
Great post Dr. If only Shortlight and ARE would read & understand it.

OP, frustration is the bottom line.
There was an amount of consistency until the cowboys H&G took over. We are now 5-6 years behind and new owners have to make a statement of intent.
I see an inexperienced manager at the helm of one of the biggest jobs in world football who is trying but has no public support from the management.
Throw money but also back the guy FSG, on a regular basis if he really is the man.
I don't think the owners need to make a huge statement of intent; IMO one of the worst decisions Liverpool ever made (huffing 35m at Newcastle for Carroll) was due to the owners trying to make a statement.
I do agree that Buck needs to be backed with support and funds for a few windows though.
RAP after the first few comments I thought I'd gotten away with the wording of that!
they gave Kenny a 100 mil
full marks for intent
one star for the players Kenny chose
Number 5 is the problem for me. We need players who can come in and make a difference now. Sturridge and Ince are on a par with Borini and Assaidi, they're not the finished article. If anyone says in a few weeks that we have to be patient with them because they need time to develop I'll be totally pi55ed off. We've got plenty of players with potential we need some proven quality goalscorers asap.
I didn't mean intent money-wise more lets see you more at the matches, more press conferences with IA and BR (who are both inexperienced).
Goes a long way.....

FSB - Ince is tearing up the Championship (I know, I know), and I think Sturridge will be able to make an impact. Their arrival will transform our front line options.
Brendan's 4-3-3 or is it 4-2-3-1 ? (U4004) - agree to disagree I think - I don't think it matters if they show up at matches or not. Abramovich goes to loads of Chelsea matches but he's cost Chelsea as many trophies as he's allowed them to win.
I'm off for the night lads, talk to yas later.
Hangover Mondays, can't fecking wait.
"2) There may be a few more comfortable results like today before the end of the season, because we're a talented but far from complete team who are capable of completely dominating teams who don't fight properly against us, but we can still be undone by teams who are highly motivated and play to their best against us. Wins by a few goals need to be viewed in perspective, the same as losses by a few goals.

Dr, 2 new options up front will undoubtedly make a difference. But it will be more akin to Borini and Assaidi than to Suarez or Torres. 11 average players usually make an average team. Is that all that we aspire to? Sturridge and Ince may go on to be great players in a few years but we need some real quality now to stop our better players wanting to leave
Here's to the reds hitting the ground running in the new year.

You mean all those best players who have signed new contracts in the last 6 months?
It's a shame they are not as bright as you and can see we are going nowhere. They are wasting their careers.
Righteous, that comment is derived from BR's comment at the weekend that we wouldn't be able to hold onto Suarez if we didn't improve quickly. I agree with him, you don't. No problem
No it derives from your opinion that we won't improve.

Doesn't sound much like someone thinking about leaving.
I guess they are all liars though.
FSB. If we only have 11 average players, then surely we don't have any 'better' players to leave?
Righteous , remember Torres saying similar? Was that 2 weeks before he left , or 3?
FSB - remember the many many players who said they would stay and signed new contracts and did?
Righteous....
