Giggs has nothing to offer. He's 39 Ffs. I do not want to see a 40 year old on the team. It's embarrassing.

Of his contract is renewed and he can't see it's time to give up he's a disgrace.

Give it up you idiot. Go look at the real definition of embarrassing in the dictionary.

So a football team which has players on it that have no real connection to your life can embarrass you by playing a footballer who more than justified his place in recent weeks?

You need a new hobby!

Don't agree with the Rooney argument. His partnership with rvp is class.

Sorry mate, didn't mean to embarrass you.

The only person you embarrass is yourself. Carry on.

In a nutshell:

Giggs really doesn't have much to offer. His P45 is overdue.

Rooney is not the engine of our team but is still essential. RVP is demonstrably the heartbeat of our team.

Rooney is essential but not indispensable.

RVP and Rooney is a fantastic partnership, there's double figure assists and goals between them in all competitions.

Red

Do you not think for games like these where we have an injury crisis and need someone to just go on the left and do okay until the main players are back that Giggs isn't at least a good option?

Rooney is inconsistent but he produces enough over the course of a season to earn a bit more respect.

I don't mind Giggs getting another year, as long as he is used in the right way - i e out wide, not as a CM, and brought on with maybe 20 mins to go. In terms of quality he is as good as (better?) than most of our options out wide and can still make an impact. He's still got enough class to make it count against lesser teams. There is also no doubt that he still has a positive impact on the rest of the squad, and that is something that us fans probably can't really appreciate.

Whilst this squad can cope without Rooney, of course he is still a vital part of the team. I don't believe in any player not being replaceable, but that is not to downplay the importance of Rooney.

I see Rob has got himself insulted on this thread also.

Giggs can clearly do a job on the left, but not in the middle for me. We look better with the energy and movement of Cleverley/Ando in there alongside Carrick.

Rooney is a classic English international, massively overrated.

The main problem with English players and is, imo, the over riding problem with the English squad, is they all think they are far far better players than they actually are. RVP is more than demonstrating just how overrated Rooney is. RVP is world class, Rooney is very good.

As for Giggs, one good game doth not a good player make. And no disrespect, but this was Wigan. Giggs has been arguably the best Midfield player in league, ever. But he's been far more a hindrance than an asset this season.

We are all united. Spot on mate. Cant believe how clinical rvp is- rooney gets himself in some great position and too often scuff his shot or goes for power when placement is needed. I think all top strikers have to be great with placement than taking booming shots. Hope rooney and welbeck are learning.

rooney and rvp are great. end of. giggs can stay till he is 50 as far as im concerned.

Well said Resident Red

Can't believe anyone actually thinking they have the right to ask another human being to retire. What does that have to do with them? How is that their right?

Pure water

pure water, you sure you ain`t on JW red`...how can you equate Welbeck with Rooney...Welbeck might do a little more learning, but I don`t think Rooney will...he is not perfect, but a hell of a lot better than Welbeck will ever be!
