"Maclean believes the time is right for Rangers to take the lead on the issue because Green seems so desperate to leave Scotland – and any threat of UEFA sanctions for taking football into the courtroom will be limited by the club’s non-participation in European competition for the next few seasons."

How long did Bosman take to win his case - Something like 5 years or something? Why would this not take a monumental effort in the courts also?

I think most people associated with Rangers would like to believe that they would be involved with European competition somewhere about 5 years or so down the line. UEFA sanctions would be in play definitely make Rangers think hard about taking this into the courts.

In my opinion UEFA would probably make the SFA bar Rangers from competiting in Scottish leagues whilst the case was ongoing too.

I don't think this is likely any time soon.

We need more time in court like a wee Irish lassie needs a start in a laundry

I'm probably exaggerating what UEFA and the SFA would or even could do in the trial peroid - but there would be a reaction to punish and it would be damaging to Rangers.

And as Zachsda says the English leagues probably would just decline Rangers entry membership.

To be honest, legally I agree with it.

However, they could pan you down to the lowest tier, about 10 down, which would probably be the killer.

There is no way Uefa would get the SFA to kick Rangers out of the scottish game whilst the matter was resolved. Would be overturned in court in about 30mins.

Causing monumental damage to a PLC would not be allowed by law, and a court would overrule Uefa in no time.

Would be very difficult for them to do this. Could take them to court if they kept deciding against us. They would have to explain why they kept knocking us back for teams who were minnows in comparison.

FFS why would we want to see the inside of a courtroom again.Fook moving to England we are a Scottish side and should stay here

Maybe this guy will fund the cost on a bonus basis if we make it to England

I would much rather move to England.

The Glasgow Rock play in a UK basketball league.

The ice hockey team play in a UK league.

Think the rugby teams play in a UK league.

All because Scotland is not competitive enough. Dont see how this is not true with football.

Then they'd surely just do what you suggested earlier and offer Rangers a place in the lowest tier available (the Northern Sunday pub league or whatever its called) making the move less appealing than staying in the Scottish leagues.

I would speculate that their reasoning for any decline in membership application would be the sheer size of Rangers in comparison to the teams they'd be up against and the costs of policing crowds etc is beyond the means of the minnows.

And to let Rangers bypass them into higher leagues would not be fair on clubs with longer standing membership. As this would either force unnecessary English league reconstruction to fit Rangers in a higher tier or to deny a club a place it had earned in a higher tier through promotion.

In my opinion they could give at least reasonable justification to deny Rangers.

In the summer there was

In the past Rangers held an FA membership and played in the FA Cup.

Obviously this legal stance would open up an opportunity for there to be a 'Britain' in football once again.

Nah, sporting integrity does not overrule the law.

It would be their problem if they said we were too big for the lower leagues, they would then have to find a way to put us in where it is viable.

They would though make it as unappealing as possible for us to put us off.

10 tiers down it is
