Super Ally, I'm leaving this thread well alone after the other night
The last Labour Government done some good things, minimum wage for example but they had an opportunity to effect real change but instead pandered to the rich/bankers and took us into an illegal war against Iraq. I felt cheated having been a child of Thatcher that some of the real changes that should have been made were not made.
As for Michael Foot, he might have been an intelligent man but when you can't even button up a duffel coat properly what chance have you got of being elected.
Chuman - self help son! Not punishment! Why should people work to pay for these breeding wasters? Cut their money and they will work! I hate when people say "it wont pay me to work" you should WANT to work you should WANT to better yourself you should WANT to have a sense of pride sure the job you start in may not be on a life changing salary but you should WANT to work your way up and improve your familys lifestyle and you should WANT to set an example to your family!

Baws - the actual problem with benefits isn't the unemoyed it's the fact that jobs pay so badly that people in full time work still require benefits to survive.
==
and was this any different under Labour?
Since Thatcher you couldnt get a baw hair between the 2 main parties.
We kid on am pure Labour where as one is Conservative.
Is garbage
No matter who is in power are only the front men, the face of faceless civil servants who NEVER change.
They run the country.
Cut their money and they will work!
----
There are no jobs that pay enough. The jobs they would take would still mean they get benefits.
You'd be as well cutting off the NHS to them to encourage them to become immortal.
None of them are close to an obama, hes a gifted speaker

though mostly down to having gifted speech writers.
Zachsda - at 55 having paid your stamp, if you were unable to find another job presuming you have genuinely tried then no fella! But there are many hundreds of thousands who havent looked, who havent tried, who have never worked nor intend to that is wrong!
As for the corporation tax avoidance this is not a justification for people not working! There is no relevance between them!
Starbucks not paying tax means people dont have to work? Why?
Should have added I felt cheated as i felt John Smith would have effected real change.
and was this any different under Labour?
----
Slightly.
At least Labour didnt have the unemployed working for free in Poundstretcher.
Things I hate about political discussions:
- So many people use words like 'nasty'. I firmly believe that each political party follows a path that they believe is best for the country.
Just because you don't agree with their views, doesn't mean they're setting out to hurt people.
- In a related theme, I can't stand people who don't understand that politics is about opinion.
Just because someone else's opinion differs to yours, does not make them wrong.
- I reject the idea that one political ideology, if seen in power for decades and decades, would result in 'a perfect world'.
I believe the shift in power is healthy - not just for real policies, but also for a general approach.
The swing between increasing the money paid into the welfare system is good, but it's also good for periodic reigning in of that money.
Sadly, we live in a world where people will exploit what they can, whenever they can. The best we can hope for is that a constant shift in political power will help keep the balance across all ideologies.
That's my view anyway

but i'm now 55 and if i were to lose my job i'd find it very difficult to get a job at my age, would that make me a scrounger?
==
sad given you seem to contribute so much to your employer as well
So we are ready to offer you the position Mr Zach, any questions?
'Would be awrite if a talk pash on the internet most days ' <laugh?
But there are many hundreds of thousands who havent looked, who havent tried, who have never worked nor intend to that is wrong!

Baws. How do you know this?
Super Ally you miss the point, both are as bad as each other, I resent paying for the % who would never work and scrounge but I also resent the uber rich who don't pay a fair share as well. It's not a case of one or the other although the current party in power would rather only focus on the scrounger.
Cut off the nhs and make them immortal!
Possibly the daftest statement of the day so far though it still is early!
Personally Id neuter the lot of them so they couldnt breed!

Super where do you live?
Where are the jobs? You have people being warehoused now in previously propserous industrial towns that are now ghost towns.
Where are the bulding projects? Where are the industrial manufacturing jobs that employed thousands?
In my home town the second largest employer is Asda ffs. The opportunities for people to better themselves was lost a long time ago.
Chuman - I live in the real world mate!
The industrial manufacturing jobs would be the ones created under Labour? Eh naw!
Where are the jobs? Suggest the job centre, the local press (jobs pages) the internet and the various agencies in most town centres!
Hope the above information was helpful
Ally, it's hardly daft. It's an analogy.
You're saying cut off their benefits to make them work, if there's no jobs then its impossible.
Personally Id neuter the lot of them so they couldnt breed!

Also super Im not a labour supporter either but thanks for reading the thread

not all their fault mind you as you cant have factories making stuff nobody will buy
The fact that their are few jobs is because their is no requirement for them.
