I totally and utterley agree 200%. It is as plain as day to see. Unless you believe the rubbish coming from the Owners of the club.
Swindon fan in peace.
Well I hope you're right. Our season could go either way at the moment...big game for us at Tranmere on Tuesday.
I agree about Bournemouth as potential champions...they seem unstoppable. I'm sure you'll at least be in the top 6 and I still think you still have a good chance of the top 2.
Well if that's peace, wouldn't like to see ya take the pi$$
Zigger
You're one of the few on here, who tries his hardest to make sense of what's what.
I think you're just like the rest of us?? a little suprised how well Deano did,on Zero money and even less support from the board.
B.F from what i can figure out is a great scout of young talent, but not a manager.
No matter what!!! we're all R.T.I.D..
My wife asks me every year "WHY' do i still buy two season tickets that i use"if i'm lucky" twice a year???????all i can tell her is "if you understood you wouldn't ask"
Hope we make the play-offs !!! gives me a reason to come home
R.T.I.D..
Alright rover in north by north by Small America
Oh ye of little faith. We still have the same players who got us to these dizzy heights. BF couId possibly make a slight difference either way, but I don't see any outright favourites for the top two spots. So we have as good a chance as anyone depending on the rub of the green, the state of the pitch and Copps!
If we win all our remaining games we will be champions. As a season ticket holder I realise that this is a tall order, but how many fans would like to be in this position with fifteen games to go? Brian Flynn isn't a genius when we win and he isn't an idiot when we lose - with the same players DS had. And lay off the board. After relegation, which is always potential disaster, we have a core of good players, a stable club and we are second in the table. Time to grow up.
Nookie we got to the top two without 26 kicking a ball for us.I think this may have gone unnoticed.
Zigger agree. Albi "lay off the board" If they wanted to get promotion dont you think they would be trying to bring people in i.e loanees to see us throough till the end of the season??? Take Bournemouth, Swindon, Sheff utd, Crawley, Coventry but to name a few all recruited in Jan and spent to try and push on, as Zigger and a couple have said recently the cheap option and thats plain to see.
Well, I haven't enjoyed the last three, that's true but I'm a long way off ruling out our automatic promotion hopes never mind out play-off hopes. We're still top of the league (not sure how) on a points per game basis but I d agree that Bournemouth and Swindon are the major threats.
Flynn, from what I'm seeing is trying to get us playing a more "possession football" game. Can our players do that? I really don't know. He's also got us shooting more (Tuesday night aside). For me that's got to be good with how good our strikers can be.
There's a few injuries in the squad at the mo so it's going to be tough but I'm backing us to get through it.
Far too much negativity around when you consider our position.
That's the problem Fuzzy, in our position we shouldn't be negative, but we are as the last few games have shown. We could be 8/9 points clear, yet we're still in the top 2 due the teams around us letting us off the hook so to speak.
Look at it like this Zigger. Bury, I would normally have bet my house on a win. But after 2 weeks of no competitive football with them fighting for their lives, was getting beat so surprising?
Walsall - a team in very good form against a team who have struggled to really show what they can do at home all season? So we got beat again.
MK Dons - the most concerning. Their league form is rubbish but everyone is up for today's cup match. At least we kept them out. Plus quite a few injuries knocking about.
Crawley - at the mo, I can't see why we shouldn't win. Away from home, where we are better; their form is average to say the least; no cup matches to shine for. I just worry about who we can put out, that's all.
Season is a long way from over. We'll be in the shake up in the end.
Alibrosi - Talk about growing up? You try it. DRFC RULE JR RULE WE WILL WIN THE LEAGUE> WE ARE THE BEST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE> You try growin up
Preston beat Bournemouth,
Blunts n Yeovil won
Down to 4th place, but, if we win on Monday night we go top.
Fuzzy, i agree with you.
Far too much negativity on here.
At the start of the season most of us would have settled for mid table and safety.
Suddenly the bar has been raised and because of a couple of bad results the team and the management become rubbish.
Albi - most of us would have snatched off the hand of anyone offering us this position with fifteen games to go, although your suggestion of us winning all of our remaining games is way much more than a tall order my friend - it is impossible.
Bournmouth found out today that they too are not unbeatable and once again the league table at the end of the day leaves us in a healthy position.
ionly - if we were ten points clear you would be slating the board because we were not fifteen points clear.
Get real and look at where we are on a tiny budget and a threadbare squad.
A further positive note is that Hume and Sayers look like being available for Mondays game and a friend at the club is convinced that another striker will be joining us very soon.
We have suprised quite a lot of people with what we have achieved so far this season and it is interesting to me to hear that fans of other clubs still see us as one of the promotion favourites.
The "cup half empty" brigade will always have a moan if we dont win every week but come on lads - it just wont happen - and it wont happen for our rivals either.
RTID.
Hound - Your loyalty is showing through.......... The reason why we are not ten points clear never mind fifteen i9s claerly the fault of the board.. Threadbare yes... Billions in the bank between them and as you say ashoestring budget, so who is to blame.. ME????????.
So lets put it where it is...Comment by JR...."We will see what is needed in January and where we are in the league, if we are in the top six (Never mind equal top) We will sign the players tha are needed to ensure a promotion push"
I go back to "Why did Dean Saunders leave"???? Was it because the comment above was a bit of being economic with the truth.. I would NEVER call them liars because as we know the owners or one of them has solicitors present at public forums and probably checking sites for liable..."
I have a plan..... If I give up wanting Donny to get promotion and accept that they are not going to and that they are a third rate team then I shall NEVER be dissapointed shall I??????
Games in hand as we know this week mean JACK S HIT
Come on mate - there are many reasons why we are not ten points clear at the top.
The main reason is that there are other teams in the league who are also trying to get promotion and are scrapping away the same as we are.
Billions in the bank?
Millions yes, but not billions.
Even then, would you throw money in excess at the club if you had that much money?
No you would not.
Also, there are clubs in and around us who have got into trouble with the league for breaking rules about expenditure to income rules.
On gates of 6500 the club cant just bring in players willy nilly.
To be honest mate, even if we do go up i still think you will find a reason to have a go at JR, it is in your blood.
The club is in good shape right now, surely you can see that?
Yes, it is in my blood and the reasons is his bigger gob and bigger head than mine........The club is doing fine I agree. Now at the beggining of the season I predicted Donny to be mid table at the end, again two months ago the same survey and the same result... Now others have been shouting that we are going up as Champions, possibly second, but now are saying that they will be happy just to be in play offs. I am classed as fickle.. All along I just wanted them to get to that 50 points but got carried away listenning to many others shouting the odds. Now I agree that the club are not in a finacial position to do what others do, and yes my brain moved my fingers I did mean millions, but "What are directors and owners in this business for?"
Why must we week in and week out listen to publicity spouted how good we are, how much Ryan has done for the club and what he is going to do..... I am still happy to see Donny players walking round town shopping etc, but do not get carried away with it..
You know I am Rovers through and through, but why does Ryan have to spout what he has done, why not let the team just get on with it.. WHY ? Not having a go at you, we have been mates too long... But Why can't we. ALL OF US JUST TAKE WHAT WE HAVE.
The other thing is...If Donny do go up, IMO they will come straight back because they camnnot compete financially with the rest and that we all agree on.
Donny are staying up, good enough but we are all counting on getting automatic promotion.. Flynn says we are the best team in the league.. I disagree
John Ryan for me is someone who you love or hate, he is a character for sure, what he has done for this club is nothing short of amazing, the club is stable, not in any trouble. But he does frustrate me with some of the things he says, mainly things he says but never follows through! Why say it in the first place?
My mates from around the UK never let me forget the time when he said 'in five years we will be playing in the champions league' oh dear!!!
But I find him a likeable person, but don't get carried away with what he says on interviews, he sure is a dreamer!!!!
And I'm confident in saying 'in John Ryan we trust'
RTID
Ah.................... It appears it is not just me..
The thing that gives me the biggest smile that I can muster is that Portsmouth are rock bottom...... After every thing possible has been done for them by the FAS. THEY ARE STILL BOTTOM AND IN ADMINISTRATION....As soon as any deal is done they loose another ten points......YEP that's me....For what they have done to Donny over the last few seasons...They should be bankrupt and GONE... perhaps someone should ask why I use ionlywishicould..as a pen name.....Think you may have worked it out..........PAYBACK
