17th

Apparently we had a budget of £50m last summer... Yet spent far more.

DJ is here.

Who would be our 17th homegrown?

I'd expect AMN, Iwobi, Eddie to be homegrown, no?

Cohen Bramall not counted as homegrown in either PL or Europa despite playing in England his whole life is weird. Luckily he is absolute Shiite so it doesn't matter.

Apparently we have a budget of £40M in the summer

Come on Castor, you really believe the Daily Mail ffs.

We are getting double that from our kit and sponsorship deals in the Summer.

Daily Mail have just extrapolated from last season without taking into account the contracts that are ending and extra income coming into the club. But I promise the club will not correct it. It would be stupid to do so when going into any negotiation.

By the way thats their estimation if we don't qualify for the Champions League.

Even if we don't qualify for the CL, £45m is still way too low.

It isn't an accurate figure when you factor everything in.

Even Ornstein was saying Arsenal will benefit from more money in the Summer, yet these lot are saying we will be getting less!

Arsenal have plenty of money to spend. Its the 9th richest club according to turnover without CL income. The problem has been, and I keep on repeating it, wages. Running a wage budget of a team that not only qualifies for the CL but also gets to the latter stages whilst not having CL income is not sustainable or in fact allowed. We are essentially like a relegated club having to shed wages without premier league income. Its really a matter of getting rid of all the high wage earners who are not contributing and bringing in relatively unknowns until we are qualifying for the CL. Then you can go big again. The problem is of course who would want those players. There is actually some hope getting rid of Ozil etc. because they have a history when they were the tops and there will always some club chairman who thinks he can turn them around and earn a tidy profit. Its those unknowns like Mustafi, Xhaka, Kols, Elneny etc. who Wenger thought were ready for the prime time and increased their wages exponentially.

IAWT is right. Mavropanos not in the Europa League Squad. Jeorge Bird explained it on twitter but asked the question why not leaving out Elneny instead of Mavropanos?

Strange.

Elneny plays midfield and can also fill in at CB. We are short of CMs as well. Elneny makes sense.
Licht arguably the one, as we can play AMN or Jenks there, or even Carl Jenkinson. He is also leeway likely to be able to play Thursday, Sunday, Thursday, Sunday

Jenks and Carl Jenkinson the same person, meant Jordi.

Bellerin is in the squad?

posted on 5/2/19

Bellerin, Holding and Welbeck are homegrown, so we're named just because the spaces were empty.

Mark Randall released by Crawley...
Remember when Petey rated him?

posted on 5/2/19

So what's the rule with academy players? Under 21 don't need to be registered in the squad?

posted on 5/2/19

Always felt bad for Randall, remember when he scored on his debut in a routine win at Sunderland only to have it unfairly chalked off for offside

Then he missed a sitter in Emirates Cup and looked gutted

As long as they have been in the club for at least 2 years.

Bit weird that Elneny has been included, considering how little he's been played this season.

Unless Emery thinks the fixtures we'll play will get easier from here on in...
