Bit weird that Elneny has been included, considering how little he's been played this season.

Unless Emery thinks the fixtures we'll play will get easier from here on in...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why wouldn't he be included? He is fit and experienced.

Since the new regime, J99 turmed himself into a godfather alt.
Nothing is wrong, nothing to question and it is all rosy and good now.

Tbh though Lex, against the likes of BATE Borisov and Vortex Jazz Hands, Elneny is a reliable player to use.

Let's not forget we scored 10 goals in 2 games against BATE last season with our second-string side.

Not Lex, I meant IAWT.

Thought Lex wrote the comment above my one.

So the question really should be who do you want in his place taking up a squad position?

Mav?

Unfortunately like most new managers they put their trust in experience before youth. Wenger did the same.

Just sticking to facts. I think its all too easy for Wenger fanatics not to accept what has happened in recent years and so to look at the club negatively now their hero has gone.

See, right here is your issue, hence why I labelled you as the new godfather. You tend to think that everyone who dare to question or criticise the new regime is a Wenger fanatic. Why?
Can you not be critical of both? As far as I know, both are not mutually exclusive.

But true though.

I hate the position we are in. But who do I blame for buying poorly? Selling even more poorly and then putting those poor players on long contracts?

Wenger? He is responsible for all of it? But he is gone. Getting rid of him and his coaching staff cost us £17m!

Gazidis for allowing all of it to happen and abdicating responsibility? He is also gone. Apparently doing such a poor job at AC milan that he is trying to knobble our targets.

Kroenke for leaving it too late and just letting people get on with it? I do blame him for that but the alternative is a owner sticking his nose in? Not sure I want that either. Certainly want his money but I don't want poor people in some country to pay for the suck jobs for £100m players .

Explain why I should be mad at a new CEO trying to clean up the financial mess, a director of football trying to clean up the contract mess and a manager just installed trying to get those bad buys to defend properly?

So nothing which has happened in the past 6-7 months for you is questionable?
Is it not the new CEO who handed a £90k per week wage to a 35 years old who can't even run anymore?

Is it not the new CEO who decide to withdraw Ramsey's contract and let him leave on free?

Since we seem to be low in cash, why did we decide to get rid of Sven? On Sunday, the only positive in that game was the performance of Guendo and Torreira, both scouted by Sven.

And you are really that after 7 months and £70M spend on defensive players, we shouldn't be performing better in that area?

Come on, Wenger was really bad at defending, this is not a secret but I'm telling my opinion, Emery is just as bad or even worse. The fact that we have had long term injury to 2 of our main defender and the only area he wanted to add was the wings should tell you anything you want to know.

I'll bet my mortgage that defensively, we won't improve. Even after 3-4 windows because contrary to the general thinking, this is not in his priority

And btw, that greek guy omission to the Europa squad also highlight that he is not someone who care defensively. He could have left one midfield behind or even Licht since we have Jenko and AMN but no. Since his attacking philosophy is provided by full backs, he decided to have all of them IN instead.

Never understood that one at the time. Pointed out that it may have something to do with his brother's relationship with Mislintat and was called a conspiracy nut by DJ. And maybe thats why Sanllehi didn't want to promote Sven Mislintat? What kind of technical director wouldn't recognise that Licht was well past it!

------------------------------------
I agree with it eventhough I am one of the few on this forum who liked Ramsey. No way is he worth the £250k a week (even if we could afford it) that Juve have been reported to pay him.

And you are really that after 7 months and £70M spend on defensive players, we shouldn't be performing better in that area?
-----------------------------------
Because I always give a player a year to adjust. I even gave that to Giroud! Thats where most of the £70m went. Towards Torreira (£35m). Sokratis and Kos actually started to look good. They haven't played much together. Leno hasn't looked to bad either!

The players who have made the most mistakes have been Licht, who has played way too much even as a backup, ( thought he would be bad to begin with), Xhaka, Mustafi, Monreal, and Kols. Do you see the pattern?

Bellerin, Holding have improved and I think even the most biased would admit that.

The point is we cannot assume that Emery will be as bad as you suggest. But lets say, nothing improves, do you think Raul Sanllehi will keep him around without fearing for his own job! Remember he was the director of football at Barca! How many managers did he go through? So he will be gone after next season. Till then enjoy the ride!

Licht was signed as an experienced back up player with leadership skills. Certainly nothing to do with us signing Dembele.
Also Licht is reported to be on £35k rather than £95k, and is only year contract stop gap.

Whoa, hang on a minute... you mean we might not be signing Dembele after all?!
