As long as we are winning the debate over Xhaka or not is pointless as well.
Ozil wouldn't be as bad as everyone thinks if Torreira is starting in holding midfield. Ceballos and Torreira looked very good in controlling the midfield tempo and maintaining possession. Ozil thrived when Real Madrid used to do that for him.

Point is we are NOT winning with Xhaka. Be it against Man Utd or even worse dropping two points against Watford

By the way, here's a question for everyone - do you believe that players should adapt to what the coach wants or should coaches adapt to the strengths of their players?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
During his interview, Emery said he has studied the squad and it could work with it.
As J99 said, it is a bit of both and really depend on the objective.
If it is to save the team from relegation, then the coach need to adapt to what he has.
If it's to creat a title challemging team, then he might need his players.
The worry with Emery is that his type of players are Milner type.

Feck me, what is happening today. First agreed with Tu and now J99?!
Regardless your opinion about Ozil, his presence in the team is not as damaging as Xhaka.
Secondly, the argument of not playing him went out of window as soon as we dropped the pressing game.
Xhaka debate a bit redundant so long as Emery remains stubborn
Barring injury he will 100% start against Bournemouth... Would be interesting to see how perform in a too level game without him though, we have the players to make up for him not starting

We do press now but its not as visible because there was a balance in midfield yesterday. In fact the first goal came from Martinelli winning the ball back and quick movement by Willock to shift it to the right. I just think Ozil is given a bad rap for not working hard enough when really the play is too slow for him to get away from his markers.
There hasn't been flow to our game ever since Cazorla was injured because he kept the ball moving in midfield just like Torreira did yesterday and against Forest. Ozil was very good when Santi was in center midfield.

That's what I am saying before. There is no excuse for Emery. We have weapons all over the squad.
It's up to him to make the right decisions and playing players in the right position. Torreira isnt an attacking midfielder.
To the Özil issue. What I read between the line is that he is not training hard enough to award a first team place at the moment.

People make their conclusion, IAWT. Yeah could be.
on Martinelli’s performance and whether he is capable of playing through the middle…
Yes, he played in this position with us and in every training he showed us his hunger to be with us. In pre-season he played in different positions, but above all he preferred playing on the left wing. But also he played as a right winger. I used him as a striker because in Brazil he played this position (centre forward). It’s not the best position for him, but the first thing in his mind is to help us and receive some minutes with us in the team. Tonight I think his performance and attitude was amazing.
That's interesting I didnt know. Martinelli sees himself as a winger.

Emery's summarising his own approach nicely in here.
Dear Arsenal. I have one wish. Please give them both a longterm contract.

Lets be fair. I think Emery is trying to praise his versatility. I believe eventually he'll have a very good partnership up front with Nketiah.
