Shockingly unfair on Liverpool and hope they win whatever season comes next

If they don't though...there will be banter

Very unfair but exactly the outcome i want

Tbh I think there will be a lot of people won't actually care as much about football as they have done before, after we get through this.

Probably true.

Plus wumming Liverpool fans might be tough as they take the moral highground and therefore becomes less fun.

I'm sure it can be done, but still

Most of my closest mates are Liverpool fans. Not the deluded, pretentious type, just rational ones. Feel real bad for them tbh....

Players, match officials and coached ets are sequestered. Just like in major tournaments. They play out the games in a shortened 1 or 2 month period.

Since they are living together as a team, which goes the same for all other teams in their respected bases. The same goes for technical crew needed.

Thats how they cover major tournaments.

Shame for all the talking heads not be nicking ideas of each other in the press booth but who cares?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're gonna try to sequester the entire Premier League playing squads?!

Including moving them round the country? Meaning you'll have to include catering staff, and coach drivers etc?

This gets better and better.

Tell me more.

Please.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ask Martin Semmens. Because they have plans for it. The cost vs monolopy of TV around the world is well worth it.

And btw you may have noticed that hotels are empty and staff are still turning up. Actually the costs of sequesteration are quite low.

Great article.

20,000 would only be if everything remains closed down until it's under control (i.e. been eradicated) globally.

What worries me almost as much as the current state of affairs, is if countries start thinking they've 'got it licked' and start relaxing rules, only to find a second wave of infections, and all that will bring, simply because they're out of step with where other countries are.

Which is why this rush to get football etc 'up and running' again is extremely concerning.

Why would I have noticed this?

You think I'm some kind of Alan Partridge figure?

Yep, sounds like Singapore & China went back to their business and got a second wave and now closing stuff down again. Examples of why we need to be very cautious.

Its not second wave. its quarantining those who are coming back and containing it. So until they have the handle on that I think they have banned incoming visas. Basically aeroplane travel will become more difficult.

Dunno? Thought you travelled a lot.

My company advises a few mid size chains. Hotels are allowing staff to sleep in. Saves them rent and travel and keeps the hotel open and maintained. Better than firing the staff.

Or you do what China has done. Ban visas. Setup those quick tests that give you results in an hour and monitor at all the incoming ports. Track, trace and contain like South Korea and we were doing until the whole of Italy went down. After which containment was not possible.

And they are giving NHS staff and other vulnerable ppl opportunity to stay the night rather than travelling.

Attempts to resume the Premier League and English Football League seasons after 30 April could be thwarted by players refusing to compete because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Premier League, English Football League and Professional Footballers’ Association officials held a conference call on Friday to discuss a unilateral response to the threat posed to clubs and players by the crisis, along with the prospect of resuming their seasons “when it is safe and conditions allow”. But even the possibility of playing matches behind closed doors after 30 April appears remote with players concerned about putting their health, and their families’ health, at risk by returning to work while the crisis continues.

Players’ representatives are also understood to be exploring whether insurance policies could be declared null and void should their clients contract a potentially career-threatening illness after playing again while being aware of the risks involved.

So sequestering probably not a safe enough option then.

posted on 28/3/20

I think its a safe option because they wouldn't have even discussed without the go ahead from the medical professionals and the government. They would have to license obviously cause everything incl hotels etc are closed to the public.

I am sure players are worried. They always are until they discuss wage cuts. Tournaments are always organised this way anyway. And for 10 matches sort of spaced out weeks shouldn't be huge to organise when you consider the millions in the game.

I still think its a very real possibility in late May/June.

Point is, the FA, the leagues, the clubs, the sponsors, the tv companies, the match day staff... they could all agree to play behind closed doors for the remainder of the season, but there’s no guarantee 100% of the players will. Or the managers and coaching staff, for that.

Way too simplistic to just say ‘play the rest of the games behind closed doors’.

Especially when it’s only going to be of real interest to a limited number of fans now anyway.
