Its not point scoring. Its predicting what is going to happen in the Eurozone when the lockdown ends.......and predicting the UK will do better. But no point scoring at all.

Got you
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Feck sake thats what I do. My job as strategy consultant is to predict future business conditions. I am not taking pleasure in that so how is it point scoring? Its not as if we won't badly effected if the EU does poorly!

I have never seen you IWAT criticise France. Or GT be critical of Germany. Whereas Crouch, Lexington, we've all been critical of what we do. Is that because all the decisions your countries take are OK with you? And you have to defend them to the hilt? Does that make you more patriotic?

J99?

Do you think it's a coincidence that the prof ferg story came out on the same day the UK reached the highest death toll in Europe?

Now the telegraph is calling the lockdown Draconian and based on flawed data 🤔

Barclay brothers live on a private island btw

M8. Prof Fergie undermined himself. He's a leader and should be following his own advise. I really have no sympathy for him. But I respect his work and obviously the institution he works for. I just hope his work is not now ignored.

I think he had dire predictions for Italy if they don't handle the undoing of the lockdown properly. We are just two weeks behind before we start on that process.

Germany reopen their restaurants and hotels as well. Restrictions or not are a affair of the states now. If corona infections are climb up again the states are allowed to lockdown regional areas.
===========
Even hotels? Inviting international tourists might be too soon, no?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hotels will re-open but not for foreigners. We may be allowed to make our holidays at the North and East sees
----------------------------------------------------------------------
North east of Germany. Who doesn't want to go there
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The east see is wonderful, IAWT. We have very nice areas in Bayern as well. Starnberger See for example.

Oh...J99. Been critical with Merkel politics for ages.

In the corona crisis she is doing a good job though. I admit that.

I'm not asking for you to defend him... They sat on the story for a month and then released it the day our figures became the worst and are now undermining his advice

Thoughts on that?

End of July. 3 months after it started as expected. The money he is giving those workers is coming out of all of pockets and we've burned through £350Bn. I am surprised it lasted as long as it has.

Papers always looking for opening in the click bait war m8. I don't think its co-ordinated. Just keep in mind FT were making models of 60k deaths in UK which if anything would ensure keeping lockdown going for another 2 months by scaring ppl.

I think Fergie just gave them an opening to attack him.

I just said they sat on it for a month, why did they go for clickbait now?

Did he resign before the story came out knowing he had been rumbled or did he resign and then story came out? That would give us a clue if the easing lockdown supporters wanted him gone from sage!

posted on 6/5/20

He resigned once he was informed the story was coming out

Also for a telegraph "exclusive" that was released last night, the right wing papers that tend to back the Tories all managed to get it on their front page today

So I'll ask you AGAIN why do you think that is?

posted on 6/5/20

I really dunno if it is coordinated. The point is if the deaths and r0 starts going up in Europe where the lockdowns are being released before us it won't make a jot if Fergie is on the panel or not. Witty and the rest will be all freaking out in public that we should stay in lockdown.

posted on 6/5/20

*obviously in your scenario ceg it seems like it but if he is replaced by another member on his team would suggest they are still using his work.

posted on 6/5/20

So you think it was entirely coincidental? The story just happened to break on the same day that headlines would have otherwise been "Highest Death Count in Europe"

Well, here is why I have been critical of the UK. It's because I lived and paid taxes for 15 years so I think that gave me the right to question the government.

I moved back to France only 3 months ago and I'm still in the process of trying to differentiate between reliable newspapers, state "propaganda" and opposition led papers.

But if you want my opinion on how Macron has handle the crisis, I think he could have done much better. Once realising how deep in the shiiit we were and his famous "war" speech, he enforced the lockdown which was good but to me, he should also have push for more testing, which he didn't. But at no giving time, he tried to downplay the crisis. He even openly admitted that France was not prepared for such devastating crisis and it reveales lots of cracks in the system.

It's time to Partey

posted on 6/5/20

We've got the second highest match day income and unlike Man Utd far more reliant on it. So if the lockdown continues till next season, which it will without a therapy drug, we will be lucky not to be broke unless we can reduce wages. I think Partey will be on less money than Lacazette but Atletico are already broke so not sure they can afford him. I think the only contract we get done is Saka. Just hope that some gay Qatar sheikh has a thing for Ozil.
