Giroud set up a few winners, be fair

There are a few reasons why Giroud wasn't as respected as he could have been at arsenal but Aubamayangs winner in the final highlighted something we had been missing with OG.

The jukes PEA did on Zooma was the kind of pace and trickery Giroud didn't have, he scored a lot of goals for arsenal but I can't remember a so for one where he had to beat one of two men before he carved out a chance.

He had plenty to offer but picking the ball up outside the box and taking it passed the 18 yard line and a few defenders wasn't his thing

As for Willian and the Spurs song. Surely we will have to keep it and make some minor changes?

The thing is there were times when the main attributes which Giroud was renowned for wasn't even up to the standard it should have been.

I still remember games where he miscontrolled the ball, tried to hold the ball up but his first touch was loose and the opposition had time to regroup, where his heading had very little precision or accuracy, and there were games where he simply didn't have the qualities to get in behind defences. That's not his fault, but when you have players like Santi, Ozil, Sanchez etc who are used to threading passes into dynamic, lively runners in between the CBs and fullback, or fluid movement creating space for others, then Giroud's limitations did hinder us in that respect.

He scored some memorable goals, and some important ones too, so I don't want to disrespect him too much.

But I will never be able to view him as a 'success' because his flaws as a first-choice striker for many years affected the team.

I think Giroud on the whole was a success for us. A very underrated player

The Sun knowing more.

You should know by now, you can only trust the Sun or any other journos/Blogs/tweets if they are solely mentioned something positive. Otherwise you should discard them
----------------------------------------------------------------------
J99 think otherwise
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I tried to explain the difference between a printed article in a paper which goes through an editorial process and 'internet' which mostly clickbait and almost immune to getting sued. The Sun has one of the best sports departments because they still sell the most papers. But you can't trust their website on breaking news.

As for Willian. The fact is he took less money to join Arsenal. And the papers hate it when Arsenal is more attractive to a player. Do you remember Suarez?

For Willian to earn the sort of money quoted we have to qualify for the CL and win trophies. I am all for that. But otherwise he is earning c£100k a week. Which is the same as Sokratis.

We have a lot fans who actually don't like the club very much so they love a negative story. Even news where we have managed to persuade Willian that Arteta is better and more attractive than Lampard!

As if I need an explanation ...

I agree with you Castor. He had just some different qualities to what Auba brings to the table. Giroud won 3 FA cups with Arsenal and "Charity Shield cups" in which he assisted.

Unfortunately he helped Chelsea to win the EL and not Arsenal.

Financially he was a big success as well for Arsenal.

Dont know why people think otherwise.

Linked to Aouar this morning as an alternative to Ceballos/Coutinho.

I suppose Arsenal are now more confident with Partey so they have started to look for his partner.

DMs - Partey, Diawara

CMs - Xhaka, ?????
