Would be a deal that works for both clubs. I would think the option to buy next season worked out this season on the swap for the wingers.

I am thinking this means Lacazette goes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What have I missed?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rumours that we are in talks to swap Nelson for Wilf (on loan to a deal next season).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That would be a dream scenario. What is the source?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Numerous on twitter which should always be taken with a pinch of salt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wasn't this sort of deal touted last season also
----------------------------------------------------------------------
yes but Palace were doing their £60m or feck off routine last season. Zaha really really wants to finish his career at the club he supports. Palace are also a little desperate now cause he wants us only and they can't afford his wages with no fans in grounds.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would love for this to happen

Happy to sacrifice Laca

Whether it happens or not. Lacazettes contract situation makes no sense to keep him into his final season. £185k a week or even an increase to it is nuts when you have just given a huge pay rise to Auba. especially with Nketiah getting ready to breakout.

Exclusive: Brentford have rejected a bid of around £10m from Arsenal for goalkeeper David Raya. #AFC are still keen on signing Raya despite the imminent arrival of Rúnarsson. #BrentfordFC will only consider selling if Raya is loaned back for the season.

WTF are we doing? We want Raya AND Runarsson?

This is so stupid

Not really. If Raya is being bought to eventually replace Leno and Runar is 3rd/2nd choice dependant on what Macey does in 2021 when his contract ends.

Though I wouldn't have Runar even as a 2nd or 3rd choice keeper.

J99, if we are strapped for cash, and sold Martinez for the main purpose of that money going toward our main transfer targets, using the bulk of it to sign 2 goalkeepers is stupid, I really don't think there is any argument to say otherwise.

Whatever you think about Raya, he still has A LOT to prove and Runar seems pointless for the countless reasons already listed. The former is totally untested at the top level.

I wouldn't really want to trust a short goalkeeper for the forseeable future if he is intended on being Leno's successor.

Both goalkeepers have been heavily linked with us because of our new Brentford boys working with them in the past. They wouldn't be considered otherwise.

posted on 17/9/20

Samir, Raya was the keeper of the year in the Championship and has a lot more experince than Martinez ever did. If I wanted a keeper who would be a safer bet I wouldn't go abroad and spend £60m+ only to find the keeper doesn't like collecting the ball in the air like Kepa. Pavon has also worked with him. I suspect the idea was that they would give Leno another season to see if he would improve with Raya waiting in the wings.

I personally would have sold Leno this season or kept him as a no.2 to sell him next season. But Arteta obviously thinks different and I assume didn't rate Emi enough.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, CEO of @FCBayern
, said about @Thiago6
: „We negotiated seriously with him and fulfilled all of his wishes. But it looks like he might want to do something new at the end of his career. "
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is absolute right though.

Bayern being told by Thiago that he made his mind up long ago. They tried and tried hard to keep him.

They had no chance and it was crystal clear that Thiago would join Liverpool. The only question was only when.

If Thiago had made up his mind why did they keep him around for Liverpool to lower his value by taking it into his last season?

In fact why did they negotiate at all? Whats the point in negotiating if one party is not faithful in the negotiation?

The negogiation between Bayern and Thiago ended long ago when Thiago told them he wants to leave. My personal guess is that Liverpool worked behind Bayern's back.

Gareth Bale to Tottenham, here we go! Last details to be sorted about salary [shared with Real Madrid] and Gareth will fly tomorrow to London. He’ll complete medicals and join #THFC - one year loan. Mourinho approved the deal. Reguilon expected for tomorrow too [100% done].

When that happens the clubs sells the player immediately. Do you remember Ashley Cole? You don't keep on playing him in the first team unless you completely believe in the players committent. If a player is going then how do you know it he will put in the effort or would he rather save himself from getting injured?

Erm.....Liverpool hesitated because they dont wanted to pay 30M for him.

In the end Bayern put that through and Pool had to pay that to get him now.

Liverpool parked Keita at Leipzig for one year.

Arsenal bought Saliba and loaned him back to St. Etienne.

Both players could have suffered serious injuries in the meantime.

Yes thats what happened but why? Why did Liverpool pay in the end? Could it be because Barcelona came calling? Like I said above. I suspect Bayern always wanted to sell. They might have reconsidered after his good performances at the end of the season but they didn't enough to give him the same as Liverpool had promised him. When Barcelona also came into the picture Liverpool paid up.

Arsenal had no choice. That was the only way St Etienne would agree to the deal. However when you send players on loan the club always takes that risk. Which is why generally you only send the player for (a) development or (b) you don't want the player and want to sell him.

In both cases the player has a long contract with the parent club. So if the player gets injured he still gets paid. Now that is completely different to when the players contract is coming to an end like Thiago. When an injury could mean the player has no contract from anyone if he is seriously injured. So why would the player risk injury? Thats why you would question his commitment.

Liverpool paid that money in the end because Rummenigge made it clear that they wouldnt let him go for less to Kloppo.

Liverpool wanted him desperately for their midfield this season and not want to wait another year.

Barcelona have no money and it was never in Thiago's mind to move back.

Barcelona don't have money. But we don't know what clauses they put into his contract when they sold him to Bayern.

Barca may have been able to get him far cheaper and I agree Liverpool are desperate.

Keep in mind the reason why Liverpool didn't want to pay Bayern £30m and wanted them to reduce his price is because he is into his final season next year when he could walk for nothing.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Bayern could have lived with the situation to let him go without fee a year later. That's why they insisted of 30M EUR for Thiago.

That is why the deal took more time.
