Maybe this is me being cynical, but was there really any need to make that gesture public? Ozil knows full well how that would look for us.

PR stunt and a kick in the aaarse from Özil into the club that is paying him until next summer. He knows that he is not going play anymore.

Just like Sokratis, Muslad and ???

Read that it will free more than 600,000 on wages a week.

More and more convinced that being required to take the knee for BLM after he was admonished by club and league for a statement about the Uighars was the final nail in the coffin

Understand the principal but still... Annoyingprick could have just taken the knee and made vague comments about standing against prejudice and persecution everywhere

Playing devil's advocate here but if the club dropped you and make you train with the U23, why would you be "nice" to it?
He is clear now that the reason he has be dropped is not just for football reason. So I guess it is a PR war. And even as fans, we have to admit that Arsenal PR hasn't been great lately.

Özil knew exactly that the club made Gunnersaurus redundant only as long as there arent fans allowed in the stadium.

It is not just the knee though. Are we not sponsored by Huawei?

Once again Mesut Ozil has proved he is bigger than Arsenal FC. Legend.

All this for a mascot though. The state of it

posted on 6/10/20

Only Arsenal fans would be on the back of the club for laying off the mascot while there are no fans in the stadium. Seriously. If you hate Arsenal so much it can't healthy to keep on following them.

It's the way the message got out (crap PR) and the fact that media knew as a fanbase and our rivals would lap it up

posted on 6/10/20

J99, this isn't about the redundancy. It's about the timing of the news. Arsenal PR is utterly shocking. Who on earth sanctioned the release of this news THE DAY of the transfer window deadline when the club knew it would trigger a €50m clause?

If it was rivals I wouldn't care.

Crap PR from both side. But as I said, what does Ozil has to lose?

posted on 6/10/20

Ozil probably knew he was going to miss out on Europa and league registration so decided to embarrass the club. Good on him. Shambles of a PR

It would have happened anyway. Whether it was today or 3 days ago. Started of as a joke and then took a serious turn.

We wouldn't know it was Ozil if his agent hadn't revealed it. Ozil did it to embarrass Arteta.
