tbf Emi performed very well and won a trophy when he eventually started. Ozil was a part of our slide into mediocrity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you suggesting Emi helped start the club on an incline?

I am suggesting Emi was a hand brake on our slide down the hill. Whereas Ozil was dead-weight in the car.
Ozil came in and ended the trophy drought.
Ozil and Sanchez and Ramsey played some of the best football in the Emirates ever.

This is a fair comment.
When asked the difference between Alexis at Arsenal and Alexis at Man U, Wenger replied ‘Mesut Ozil’.
With hindsight we should’ve sold them both that same window...

Or the one before.
I'm conflicted, tbh. On one hand I'm kinda glad the circus show is over and we can move on. Ozil was a legend for the club but he's on mega wages and not playing, it's always a sign of trouble.
But on the other hand, if a manager is happy to let Ozil rot and yet have full confidence on dross like Xhaka, Willian and Pepe, you've got more trouble ahead.
Good luck to Mesut for the future. Hope he revives his career elsewhere. But if us Gooners think our troubles will dissolve because we got rid of a player that never played, you're in for a shock.
See little evidence Arteta has "full confidence" in any of those 3.
Which manager, Serial.
Wenger?
Emery?
Ljungberg?
Arteta?
And in fairness to Arteta, he clearly doesn’t rate Pepe, and I think he already regrets having signed Willian.
But on the other hand, if a manager is happy to let Ozil rot and yet have full confidence on
===
Don't be ridiculous.
Wenger kept leaving him out for sickness and back issues.
Emery left him out.
Ljungberg left him out too.
Which is why I blame Raul and Edu more for that signing than him. Where were the guiding voices?
Oh, lex already made that point

Surely not as good as Cesc, Nasri, RVP.
But I agree that Ozil has been a bit of victim of circumstance by Wenger's obsession of possession over tempo.
Or the window before actually
