It's not like we're going to win the cup. Thought the team selection was good, but selecting White when he apparently wasn't well is odd.

Tbh, very happy we managed to put away a strong Leeds team with ease.

The players are good. We know that cause they perform when Arteta lets them of the leash. So as Arteta starts to get out of his own way who knows what we can achieve? The League cup is hardly a long shot.

What formation did we play yesterday?

4-2-3-1

Well I've read some of the reactions, and it looks like the consensus is that we had a poor 1st half and a better 2nd. I still feel 4411 gets the best out of this group of players.

Ains putting in a good CM performance helps our options, a lot.

Against a relatively strong opponent we did well considering we made 9 changes from the Villa game.

You could see that some of our players lack game time.

Think as well that we played a better second half. We were relatively comfortable.

We can win this competition of course. A bit luck with the draws would be supportive.

Its because we can't press properly with a 4-2-3-1. We tried in the first half but Leeds found a way out because the 2 CMs are expected to sit a bit deeper in 4-2-3-1. That allowed Leeds to escape the press on Elneny's side in the middle.

There was no difference between the first half and second apart from the fact we scored (from a corner). That deflated Leeds.

Because we lacked a successful press we had less possession. Thats not good in the larger scheme of things. You should always have more possession at home. I hope Arteta sticks to 4-4-1-1 because we press as a team with that formation (more compact) which reduces the way the opposition can attack.
