Match Day.

Think the most important game in Arteta's management career. Win it and we have a real shot to getting back to the Champions League.

How good would it be to absolutely put them to the sword

We obviously won't but it would be oh so sweet!

Better than Emery's

posted on 2/12/21

Emery was mostly playing with Wenger's squad of ageing players.

posted on 2/12/21

Oh right, guess that's why the best he could manage was a draw against spurs then

posted on 2/12/21

If you are trying to be 'extra' fair to Arteta you should be to Emery as well or judge them both with equal expectation.

I did... Arteta has a better record away against the top 6 than Emery did

Also probably better than the last 2 seasons under Wenger

Not sure what point you're trying to make

posted on 2/12/21

Didn't we go years without winning away to a "big 6" team before Arteta?

posted on 2/12/21

Point is quite simple. Emery was mostly playing with Wenger's ageing squad and didn't really do that well anyway. Don't think anyone said he shouldn't be fired. But Arteta has had a lot of time to establish himself and also bought his own players. Its high time he figured out how to play against the press. Especially against the top clubs.

Emery had Auba at his best, had the likes of Torreira, Leno, Guendouzi brought in. Added experience to the defence.
One minute it is kids can't be trusted in big games, next it is very experienced players can't be used in big games!

Leno - Emery
Sokratis - Emery
Chambers - "aging Wenger signing"
Kolas - "aging Wenger signing"

Torreira - Emery
Gwen - Emery
Xhaka - "aging Wenger signing"

Pepe - Emery
Auba - "aging Wenger signing"
Saka - "aging Wenger signing"

Why have you posted that

Mikel

Think Emery only won about 8 away games (of about 25) in the league against ALL teams.

posted on 2/12/21

Only 2 arsenal managers have managed to win at Old Trafford in the premier league

Can you name them?

Just pointing out your straw man arguement once again.

Don't care what Emery did. Or in fact what Wenger did in his final years.

Should be just one question now. Can Arteta progress or not. And one of his major hurdles is away performances in general but especially against the big clubs.

======
Well he has already progressed from what came before him.

Of the away wins Emery got, only Newcastle (bottom) and Burnley (18th) didn't get relegated in one of the seasons Emery was here

Arteta has had to rip apart the squad and rely on youngsters who many feel aren't ready for big games And still done better than the two managers who had players of immense experience of big games.
