Think a lot of our summer business will be decided by the fees we bring in from sales.

What we’ve got from Mavropanos and Guendouzi isn’t the best of starts in that regard.

Luigi Gaspar has confirmed that he will leave Arsenal when his scholarship contract expires at the end of June.

Gaspar, the son of the club’s technical director Edu, joined Arsenal from Corinthians in 2019 and signed scholarship terms the following year.

In a message on Instagram the 18-year-old said that it was his decision to leave the club.

Are you satisfied finishing 5th?

and playing a predominantly terrible style of football while doing so
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thats the worry for me. Maybe a change in midfield will improve things?

Nah. I don't think thats probable or in fact possible.

Torreira > Elneny.

posted on 23/5/22

I’d be confident that, provided we recruit the right / right type of midfielders this summer, we’d see an immediate transformation in our style of play / ability to implement what Arteta wants to achieve.

My concern is whether we’ll have the resources to bring in the players we need - two, minimum - given we’ll have to put a fair bit of our transfer funds towards buying two forwards too.

If only that were true.

Arteta has already hinted we will have similar type of spending as last season c£150m.

“We are going to have certain resources, not unlimited resources, some resources,”

Must be true. Torreira has been playing for other clubs and his permanent move only broke down because of his wage demands. The only interest in Elneny has been from Turkey.

Depends how you read it I guess, J99.

Could be that he will be given another £150m budget, and he’s trying to preempt clubs taking the pee with their asking prices, in order to make it stretch as far as possible.

Could be that he was told during the meeting with KSE in January to cut the wage bill further, to stop having to pay people to leave and start selling players, in order to get a similar budget as last summer.

Or could be that neither is true.

Hasn’t he already said something about continuing to rely on younger players next season?

I think people see £100m asking fee and get dazzled. The reality is wages are far more important to transfers than initial fees that are usually amortised over the length of the contract and retain asset value on the balance sheet to protect against ffp.

After getting rid of Laca and Auba we have saved £500k a week already compared to last season. So adding £300k a week back on forwards, still leaves 2 x world class CMs at c£100k a week. If we wanted to go that way.

Seen some mention of keeping Bellerin as back up RB, but I don’t think that’d be great for us or him tbh.

Hopefully. Xhaka, Pepe, Cedric

Gone for sure: Leno, Belelrin, Laca, Torreira

It would be idiocy to sell the France's young player of the year. Especially when he fits the style Arteta wants.

Saliba will never play a competitive game for Arsenal. This is the Summer to sell him, 2 years left on his contract and his stock is as high as it’s ever been. We may even make a profit on his sale. Obviously it’s a sale that we will regret when he’s lording it for City or PSG in a few years.

Also looks like Elneny is staying, there were photos of him taken after match where he was supposedly signing a new contract.

Either he signs a new contract and stays, or has to be sold.
