A lot of people think 'managers' have power over signings because they are the face of the club. Even Wenger had to obey David Dein.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So 30 defensive signings have been down to Edu?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
c€224m spent on attackers.
c€210m spent on midfield/defensive midfield.
c€246m on defenders
c€65m on goalkeepers
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now break it down by players in each position

The sudden explosion in transfer activity is hard for me to judge.

Either they're doing it to placate the fans after bodging gyokeres/Sesko

Or

we've made serious headway for that deal and we're focusing on wrapping up the others

Jesus, Havertz cost c€127m
Odegaard, Vieira, Trossard cost c€97m

We haven't spent enough on attack signings compared to other clubs though

🚨Arsenal have an agreement on personal terms with Eberechi Eze and the player wants the move.

Crystal Palace price is three instalments of £20million with £8million in add-ons.

However with the way Andrea Berta operates this could just be a back-up plan for the club’s number one left winger target.

Havertz was bought as an attacking no.8 and ended up as a striker.

Arteta can't go to the board, lets bin €125m of crap strikers because Edu couldn't identify and buy decent attackers.

Seems to be Berta's mo. Do deals with a lot of targets and then negotiate with the clubs in a position of strength. Only Arteta knows who is the first and second and third target. So much better than Edu.

We'll see with Berta, but I tried telling people about edu. Decent, and helped turn us around, but certainly not a great negotiator. Plus, all these contacts in Brazil and got us fack all from there

Edu clearly jumped before being pushed after the mess last summer.

Edu actually peed me off, he was actually quite poor, last window was abysmal but I think he had mentally checked out by then.

He's lucky that the trossard signing paid off because wanting to spend £70M on mudryk was a crime to humanity.

Not only that as J99 said he never had backups for our attacking signings (apart from trossard) we still don't have a RW after bidding for Raphina

So question is do we get Eze over Rodrygo, or just get Eze now and see what happens with Rodrygo?

Don't think the Eze links are genuine. The @Teamnewsandtix is not reliable.

Mosquera link hints at Kiwior moving back to Italy. Like the Mosquera link.

Or sell Martinelli and Trossard and replace them with Rodrygo and Eze. Complete makeover.

posted on 26/6/25

I wouldn't be adverse to Kiwior going. I like him but as J99 says his value probably won't go higher and he also probably won't break into the team and might get frustrated, might be a good time.

7 versatile defenders with maybe Tomi should be enough

Eze wouldn't be a wing option for me. Would rather play him in the 10 position

posted on 26/6/25

We don't play a 10. Rice and Odegaard both play 8s. Sitting two with a 10 is a counter-attack formation of the bad Wenger days when all the opposition had to do was man mark Ozil and we were stuck.

But like Trossard does at the moment there are games when teams double bank both the wide areas and leave midfield slightly open. Rice has finally started to attack more but using a player to drop deeper to cut across midfield like Saka does on the right works really well. Trossard loses the ball so many times when we try this but Eze is very strong, like Saka, and won't be knocked off the ball.

I actually wanted us initially to sign Eze to replace Trossard and keep Martinelli. Rodrygo though is such a tempter. If Arsenal can afford him I think he will be a major upgrade on Marti. So many options.

posted on 26/6/25

Both good options. I like the idea of Eze being able to play 8 alongside Ode if we're chasing a goal late on or something
