After the events of last season, I'd be more than happy with mid-table mediocrity this time around.
I agree with both of you - mid-table would suit me.
I left Tamworth wondering who would go down with us and that only sacking the Manager would save us. That flurry of signings has lifted my confidence and I think that the squad that we have should achieve mid-table.
I'm sure we'll all agree that we should give a Pesch a second chance. But as that squad should achieve mid table, anything less will mean that we should look towards making a change.
Stating that mid-table will suffice means that I am not asking for much. So, I am going to ask for a few other things along the way to give me the 'satisfaction'.
a) I wish that the guy who selects the music that we come out to and the goal celebration music will get an imagination. I would rather we had our own unique tunes instead of just following what everyone else does. It just feels drab and predictable. Inject some life into proceedings please and generate an atmosphere !
b) I hope we get more fans down at the Pirelli.
c) I hope that we turn up away at both Port Vale and Crewe this season.
I agree with you all a mid table finish would be a great season......so pretty much we all want a similar season to the first in which we scored 71 goals and conceded 71......which delivered plenty of promise and some satisfactory results. Last season we scored a meagre 56 goals and conceded 70, we were simply not good enough in attack.
Good luck brewers!!! Lets get a good start with points on the board and like Otep says then start getting some decent crowds!!!
Ok then lets have some suggestions what music the team comes on to the pitch with and put it to the club because i dont think its that good.
Well, I will be the one to volunteer to write to the club on this one. How much does this annoy me? Last season I deliberately started arriving at 2.59pm to avoid hearing any of the dreadful, repetitive Republica 'Ready to Go'.
We are so bad at copying what others do that it is embarrassing. I would put us in the same bracket as the Premier League clubs who I heard on Match of the Day running out to Z Cars last season (which is Everton's tune).
Going back a few seasons now, I liked the fact that Woking ran out to a song by The Jam to honour their local heroes. Let's start with that, has Burton got any musical talent past or present?
I could only see Joe Jackson as being from Burton. Forget that idea !
Motorhead 'Ace of *pades'?
(The website doesn't like the last word so I have had to disguise it)
Ok Otep might be showing my age here but how about this town aint big enough for the both of us by sparks 5 minutes before they come out and then me and you by nero when they come on the pitch.Have a listen to the sparks track its very catchy.
Ended up watching about 5 Sparks songs on You Tube then Emnez. Nostalgia !
In my amateurish research on this I have seen that a few clubs have run polls on what music they should run out to. I think that I will put that idea to the club - the publicity will be good.
I've been wanting them to come out to "The Official Colourbox World Cup Theme" by Colourbox for ages. It never made the top 40 when it was released, but I think it's a perfect footy song. Different from all the bland repetitiveness of other club tunes. You tube it...
It would certainly be different!
Going back to the start of this thread, despite being smug about predicting the last minute flurry of signings in another thread, im quietly confident about the forthcoming season. I hear on the grapevine that Zola and Richards are forming quite a partnership!
Not quite sure how much use the the music is for the team to come out to, Maybe its more ritualistic than motivational. Or maybe im harking back to a time where we had jumpers for goalposts and no advertising on the shirts, yes im really that old!!
If you want to show intent to the away side, how about the Jaws theme?
Ace of *pades is fine with me (remind me never to start a gardening thread)
Otep if your taking this up with the club, how about suggesting they run a competition for local bands/artists to write a unique piece for the team to run out to?
Good publicity and involving the community.
Just a thought
Excellent idea Deepsigh that would create interest from the local people and great publicity for the club.Otep i will leave it to you to decide which way to jump but that to me sounds good.
....that 'Jaws' idea is just brilliant.
I am going to do this. I will bring this to the attention of the club.
Been away for a couple of weeks so excuse the late comment. I've always thought "altogether now" by i think, the band The Farm would get the supporters revved up before a game but by altering the words slightly to "all together now,all together now,the AL-BI-ON together" gives you the feeling that we are all in this together players and fans with a united front against the opposition !!! Don't think any body else uses it and its easy and effective to sing. Unfortunately i can remember a time when we ran out to ""Roll out the barrell" not very flattering and everybody fell about laughing !!
