Cheers guys, really looking forward to it. Hoping for a solid performance. Was at the home game and we looked brilliant for large parts of the game. Dont expect the same performance in Milan mind.

Here are my tips for you as a rough guide, when I travel I travel with a core of of about 8 or 10, we don't all travel together or even stay in the same hotels but we meet up out there.

I can't remember where I stayed in Milan (or most other places to be fair) but it tends to be in the city centre not far from a main station or airport bus drop off point. Where we stayed in Milan there were a few bars around our hotel, that suited us fine, we don't like to mingle with the bigger crowds, can attract too much attention but we always stick together, don't go wandering off on your own. Some of my mates do depending on the city and Milan is pretty safe so long as you behave and take the normal precautions then you aren't likely to attract unwanted attention. None of us tend to wear colours in a big way home or away so we aren't showing ourselfeves as Chelsea fans when we travel however I expect that mostly the locals know you are English and what you are there for, particularly if there is a group of you. We tend to sumble on locals that always support the other team in the city, tends to lend to a nice session before the game but you can't garrauntee that. In Milan we didn't really see or mingle with many locals prior to the game, or after for that matter.

If you like a beer, it is not cheap in Milan, expect to pay at least 5/6 pounds a pint. Post match we paid 14 pounds for a litre in the only bar we could find open.

Biggest tip, you get to the ground by taking a subway train, the station is just under a mile from there, and when you get there, depending on where they put you, you could stilll have a bit of a stroll to find the entrance for away fans. They do run busses for fans from the station to the ground, don't leave it too late to make your way there though as we got one of the last busses running and you could be left with a bit of a stroll.There is little or no segregation outside but no trouble. Coming out after the game you can grab a beer from one of the vendors outside and take a stroll back to the station, takes a while to get out, you will be kept behind then you have to walk down those winding columns and it seems to take ages. The San Siro is an awesome ground, we went earlier in the day to take it in and get some pictures, just as impressive, if not more so at night, lit up and with a crowd.

Went to Milan for a short break a couple of years ago.

If you get the chance go to see Da Vinci's The Last Supper - you will almost certainly have to book in advance.

Stayed at a hotel called Hotel Nasco a short tram ride just north from city centre - cheap but decent enough and ate really well at a great restaurant called Al Valentino nearby.
