i agree. I also think there should be a transfer window for managers.

love that someone called them Sackburn Rovers.

Oh, the simplest things...

Agree with Mostyn

I would also cap the first-team squads for all divisions at the start of the season with only Academy products being allowed to replace injured players, except in exceptional circumstances.

Blackpool didn't sack Appleton, or Doncaster Saunders .......... or are you saying that it's ok for managers to walk but not for clubs to push ?

posted on 19/3/13

no Wolfgang. I think it should be both ways too. Saunders would still be at Donny and Appleton at Pompey?? not Blackpool. Holloway would still be there, Freedman at Palace. Coyle at Bolton....etc..

Well if no managers were allowed to be sacked then there would be no vacancies for other managers to swap clubs for, so that's a bit of a moot point anyway. I agree on the not allowed to be sacked, or maybe just one change of manager permitted, however a manager should be allowed to resign as with any other job in the world.

Thing is, why would anyone in their right mind want to manage blackburn now, unless they are one of the out of work desperados that 666 would have at derby over clough. Well this might be your chance to see if gary megson/brian laws/dave bassett would make an even bigger mess than clough.

And I have to laugh at the irony of dean saunders choosing to leave his little league 1 club with his secure job to manage a big championship club, when its looking like next season his big club and former little club will be swapping divisions.

you should be allowed to resign, but not take another position during the season.

Only just read about this. I'd like to say it beggars belief, but it's all to easy to believe nowadays.

I'm going to get VERY controversial here and say: Indians and Arabs do NOT understand what football is about in this country, and until someone teaches them, they shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a football club. Chickens and fridges..... God, Allah and Ganesh help us all.

they're learning in preparation for the world cup that Blatter sold them in 2022.

By the way Mostyn, support your rule idea 100%

It would've probably saved Wolves a whole lot of heartache, and I can't actually work out what it would have meant for Forest, it's too confusing over there!

posted on 19/3/13

Forest would probably be in the promotion places under O'Driscoll.

posted on 19/3/13

Mick mccarthy would in all probability have wolves up at the right end of the table challenging for promotion.

Without venkys, blackburn would probably be a solid mid table prem team under sam allardyce. Just like west ham are under sam allardyce. David gold knows better than venkys.

Not sure McCarthy was there at the end of last season, in fact he might have been sacked pre-christmas and that really nervous looking assistant he had was manager (Terry Connor?). Solbakken was gaffer at the start of the season. Even last season McCarthy might've kept them up, if you're going back a season that is.

What’s going on at Blackburn is a complete joke, the worst thing they ever did was get rid of big Sam.

I disagree with the owners not being able to sack their managers, majority of owners are sensible, but football is a results business, if Chelsea did not sack AVB, then they would not have won the champions league.

posted on 19/3/13

Yeah terry connor took over from mccarthy then lost 9 games on the spin. My point was that if they had kept mccarthy they may well have gone down but they wouldn't be where they are now.

Incidentally I would love to see mick in charge at derby

But it was the timing of the sacking of McCarthy, Wolves sacked him after the transfer window had just shut, it just made no sense, they should of sacked him a few months before, better still had a replacement lined up, and gave the new manager a chance to build his own team. Terry O Conner was just the fall guy.

posted on 19/3/13

rammarkwright, well Chelsea shouldn't have employed AVB then!

posted on 19/3/13

It would of saved them about $12 million if they not hire him, so yes they should not have employed him.

To be fair its just another area where football is in trouble.

Although I think it would make a difference changing managers always costs huge sums for clubs but ten the club should take responsibility for $hite management in the first place.

I've just finished reading Simon Jordan's book, it's a good read to be fair. I think he had it sussed. If he was allowed to make the rules, football would be a much better industry.

It makes no sense, how would you punish the owners for getting it wrong in the first place?
Fined them? Dock the club points? Force them to sell the club?

You are right about changing mangers it does cost a lot money, its not only the manager its also the back room staff that comes along with that, and they are all on contracts, which needs to be paid out, then there is the cost of appointing a new manager, and his own back room staff, then he will want to bring in his own players and get rid of the dead wood that no one else wants.

rammarkwright,

My point is that boards and chairmen created the vast majority of the problems in the modern game by chasing dreams and living beyond their means.

Maybe if they thought a tad more maybe the vast majority of clubs would be in the financial mess that they are

posted on 19/3/13

rammarkwright, in the same way you enforce transfer windows.

Simon Jordon was certainly a character and actually made a lot of sense but there were some serious questions marks over his professional conduct while he was at Palace
