Money is the issue they would want +£6m. I suppose you could say speculate to accumulate and I think it would virtually guarantee promotion next season.

They would want more than they paid. They bought a proven league 1 goal scorer for £8m. He is now a proven championship goal scorer so presumably worth more. He'll go to a premiership team if anywhere.

We have Sordell. Who has proved that if he actually played games, he will score goals.

No point paying 10m for a striker that we already have.

Sordells carp

You want goals?

Stick with KD, N'Gog and Cravies then. You bleedin dimwit.

ye cause sordell is smashing them in left right and centre, 6 goals in 22 appearances is frightening, be in the England side soon, we can sell him on for a massive profit and use the money to launch our bid into the premier league

you seem to be obsessed with "strikers" scoring goals, it is much more apparent that the goal scoring is a team burden these days. Get with the times "you bleedin dimwit"

If I could be bothered, I'd work out a minute to goal ratio and I'm positive Sordell will come top. Anyway, Sordell is in the England side - granted its the under 21's but I don't see any of our other strikers doing so well - especially after only playing a handful of recent games.

It's no surprise that we have not scored 1 goal in 6 of our last 8 matches. Most of which have been without Sordell.

I am obsessed with strikers scoring goals, yes. That's their friggin job. A striker that doesn't score goals is often a poor one in my eyes.

Comparing Sordell with Rhodes has got to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen.

Almost as ridiculous as saying buying Rhodes would guarantee promotion.

The venky boys may be total novices in the football market but they still have oodles of cash.

We'd only be allowed to put a cheeky loan to buy bid in at this time anyway. Can't do much harm.

posted on 20/3/13

Almost. But to be fair, if you add the 20 guaranteed goals that Rhodes would give you, combined with our mediocre team of this year, we'd be in the playoffs challenging for automatic promotion.

And can you imagine Sordell and Rhodes playing together? Rhodes' 20 goals plus Sordell's goals and you'd have...20 goals.

Personal vendetta alert. BBS just doesn't like Sordell. And is quoting 'stats' which aren't factual and are far from it.

1) We won't be getting Rhodes any time soon, so we might as well shut up about it. This article carries almost as much validity as me suggesting we should sign Messi.

2) Sordell is a lot better than you dimwits think. Has it crossed your minds that it is actually Sordells goals that were the catalyst of our recent good run of form?

Rowbot, you're absolutely correct in your deduction - I don't like Sordell at all. That being said, I base all of my opinions on BWFC players objectively and based on reason. Your problem, aside from calling everybody names and generally looking like a whiny baby, is that you clearly have some sort of unjustified desire to see him in the team which makes you over-compensate your argument against the other options we have. We get it, you think he's our best striker.

And for the record, if I had mentioned any 'stats' (I didn't), they would have been factual by the very definition of the word. You dimwit.

Shut up, BBS.

You don't know anything.

Why can't we simply have both. It's called ambition. As for Sordell he is clearly a good player but his attitude stinks. It's now clear that after his good run in the team the fact he has played limited games is down to his attitude and not his ability. Also Cravies has a similar record to Barnsley as Sordells was at Watford. I would personally play Sordell more but apart from his head going down in games and spitting his dummy out when subbed we have not been told of official reasons for his poor attitude. All we can do is speculate from the suggestions about fitness etc.

You just proved my whiny baby theory all wrong - Way to go chump.

Nicked this from another forum and is the real reason why we are just outside the playoffs. If we had a player that could score goals or WAS GIVEN A CHANCE to score goals we wouldn't be in half the crap that we are. Anyway have look at these stats:

Championship Top goal scorers -
C Palace Murray 29 goals,
Burnley Austin 23 goals
Blackburn Rhodes 23

Bolton Top goal scorers:
Eagles 8 (Midfielder)
K Davies 6 (Striker)

Hmmmmmm. Tells a story that eh?

it's unfair criticizing Sordell, he hasn't had that much playing time but he has scored goals.

His mind might not be in the right place but he isn't in the England under 21s for ornamental value.

Can he be as good as Rhodes? we won't know until he gets a proper run in the team.

posted on 20/3/13

A goal ratio like Rhodes should give us that push from 8th to higher.

You started it.

One of the most pointless threads all season. Firstly, Marvin Sordell is our only striker to hit anything remotely closely to a run of form this season. He has now been dropped. The other is Kevin Davies who started the season well, he according to most is also not good enough.
The other thing and most importantly is we are not going to sign Jordan Rhodes not now, not soon and probably not ever!!

Agreed but it seems that until he sorts the other side out that won't happen. After a couple of poor performances based on the fact he spent most of the game looking uninterested and also a big sign of indiscipline which was his open sulking about being subbed.
