Being only 22 my memories only really come from The Reebok post '98 so heres my top 5
Gudni - Best captain of the modern era, neighbour, friend and all round great guy. Free tickets to the players lounge as a kid were the stuff dreams were made of!
Campo - What a guy, like no player i've ever seen for us. Theatrics a plenty, mainly grabbing the ball as soon as fouled (or not) and just loved playing for us as can be seen by his comments even after he has left.
Djorkaeff - Best player I've seen for us, the guy just oozed class.
Diouf - The man everyone loves to hate, unless he's playing for you! Controversial on and off the pitch but, like Campo, took us to his heart and could turn a game on its head.
Michael Ricketts - I know, I know and I havent forgiven the way he left us but when he was good, he was very good and he would virtually guarantee a goal, which is the most exciting thing about football

I'm similar to GG, only 21 and only went occasionally before I got my first season ticket when we got promoted (glory hunter, I know!).
As a kid I loved John McGinlay, and I had Youri and Stelios on my shirt when I was a teen. For me Hierro has got to be the best player this club has ever had, he's one of Madrid's all time greats and I've never seen someone play with so much composure and accuracy. Jaaskelainen for me was also one of the best keepers around, at the top of his game could have played for any of the top clubs. Anelka, Djorkaeff, Okocha, Stelios, Diouf, Campo, Nolan and Speed all bring back great memories for me too

Have to agree with your 3 MT.

I agree with your three to MT.

Although now I think about it Andy Walkers injury may have prevented him being up there.

Campo was amazing for us, my favourite all time player by a distance to be honest. Okocha too was a real pleasure to see week in week out and he had one game vrs United where he made Keane look a real mug time after time. Curcic was fun to see, his weaving runs never led to much but I enjoyed watching him.
When I started watching in the late eighties we were not so great, nobody is really standing out for me. Reeves and Philliskirk had a decent partnership, David Lee had his days too. We signed Robert Fleck on loan for a while and he played very well.
Other than that I should give a mention to McGinlay, Walker, Coyle, Thompson (Alan), Gudni, Branagan, Jussi, Bobic, Mendy, Stubbs, Fish, Bruno, Djorkaeff, Anelka, Diouf, Hierro and especially Laville who I thought for that half season was the best defender we ever had (that I have witnessed certainly).

Super John McGinlay - the one and only.
Keith Branagan - the first bolton goalkeeper I looked up to.
Jussi Jaaskelainen - I thought Branagan was good, but Jussi knocked him in a big cocked hat.

Agree Aristodemus, Campo is by a long way my favourite Wanderer and completely agree about Laville, he filled the void left by Gudni as the rock at the back with a touch of class. If he hadnt suffered that injury he could have been here for a lot longer than he was. I also thought Vincent Candela was the best LB we've had, in my lifetime anyway.

I'll try and say different ones from everyone else.
Arnar Gunnlaugsson (or however its spelt)- For about half a season in the late 90's he was awesome. Remember a goal at Bristol City when he dummied about 3 people and slotted it home.
Sasa Curcic- A bright light in an otherwise forgettable first season in the Premiership.
Fernando Hierro- Made the game look ridiculously easy. Always seemed to have an age on the ball even though he wasn't that quick.

                     Nice article MT!.
Going back a little but
Reidy my fave player as a kid, loved him so muck
Big Sam,same era as a youth as Reidy, same commitment.
Roy greaves loves this club.
Ju Ju Ju Darby,Bolton lad loves this club as much as we do.
Gudni, wonderful man, player and loved by us all.
Super John, strange signing at the time, but Bolton through and through..
Eidur loved watching him play, felt like was playing against kids when u watched him.
Andy Walker, simply just lifted the club always knew he would score, loved the man.

I may get slated for this but Elmander when he actually showed his true ability was a brilliant player and I will always remember him for this goal against Wolves:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKxNIlGQ7oE
Otherwise similar players to everyone else. My memories are mostly of the Allardyce era onwards as I was never really into football when I was younger (side effect of growing up in a rugby household).
I'll also always have a soft spot for Paul Robinson. Arrived at the club with the image of being Megson's dressing room enforcer however he really did give his all for the team. People talk about SKD's commitment in a white shirt but Robbo was just as committed and there really was nothing quite as enjoyable as when you could see him lining up an opposition winger for a "welcome to the game" tackle!

Annar G, best moment v Huddersfield home, I was at the game listening to commentary from GMR when he scored his second by selling two defenders the dummy then coolly slotting home, Jack Dearden said the dummy was so good the two defenders nearly had to pay to get back into the stadium....class.
Although from the last 15 years or so missing out the last two, there must be dozens of them.

Yeah I forgot to mention Arnar and Eidur, both great players to watch.

I'm 22 so same as a lot of people really, Campo, Youri, Okocha. Also enjoyed Gary Speed.

MC: Youri - complete class, saw him play a ball to JJ in a game, JJ unreal control, Youri applauded him with claps over his head....in a game" - class.
MC: Campo - comedy, haircut, vision, loves Bolton, falling on the ball.
MC: JJ - Nuff said
MR: SKD - Did a job in that role for a few years, not seen many outstanding MRs in my day (Poss Stelios)
ST: Blake - Controversial choice - but he's in just because my first season was the 97 promotion, and he bagged loads, and made it a real fun time, also heard he used to walk around training singing "someones scored a goal...nathan blake" - so he gets the comedy nod.

From my first season as an ankle biter frank Worthington the skill that man had.I was there at that game v Ipswich but missed that goal as was too small and sometimes could not see and wondered what all the fuss was about as all I saw was the ball go into the back of the net.saw what I had missed the day after on the big match which is repeated this morning on itv4 at 9 am well worth a watch.

Been living downunder since 87 but Frank Worhington for me ,the man was class , what would he be worth today ? Unfortunately never saw JJ Youri and some of the others live but they were entertainers as well

I know people pick out the likes of Djorkaeff and Hierro for being sort of the thinking mans hero, maybe not as flashy as the flicks and skills merchants, and there are those who prefer the passionate home-town club bnadghe kissing type like Jimmy Phillips, but I am going to be shallow and nominate three who were simply dazzling, had the skill to do things that very few can do even at the top professional level ... and they knew it and they loved it. In chronological order Worthington, Gudjohnsen and Okocha

my favourite players over the years have been
Supa John & Andy Walker - the best front two partnership we ever had, guaranteed goals and both great characters.
Campo - when he played well the team played well, i was gutted by his treatment at the hands of Mugson.
Other players i have a soft spot for tend to be from our lower league days
Crazy legs Cowdrill - use to love watching him dribbling down the left wing with the ball hardly under control!
Phil Brown - great right back and Bolton through and through.
Dean Crombie - cultured centre back, his goal at Wembley against Torquay was fantastic.
Scott Green - played anywhere he was asked to and always gave his all

                     Welcome back MT.
My vote goes for Robbie Savage.

Obviously seeing players such as Hierro,Djorkaeff, JJ,Youri etc was something that i never ever thought i would see at Bolton. Even so the sides of 1992-3 and 1996-7 was just brilliant, i used to look forward so much to going. Some real characters in both respective sides as well as talent but most of all a real team ethic , players that would work their socks off for each other. It rubbed off on the supporters as well, away days were just superb

Us v Leicester City, Paul Warhurst picking Robbie Savage up with his hair, excellent, just a pity he got a red!!

                     In chronological order :
Frankie Worthington
Willie Morgan
Tad Novak
John Thomas
Jeff Chandler
Tony Philliskirk
Andy Walker
Alan Thompson
John McGinlay
JJ
Youri Djorkaeff
Campo
Hierro

                     Steve Thompson.
As I've said before on here, every move we put together for about five years in the late 80's / early 90's went through Thommo.
In fact we only had two moves back then -
Felgate / Farnworth rolls it to Phil Brown, who then plays it down the line for whoever was playing on the right to chase
and
Felgate / Farnworth gives it to Thommo on the edge of our box. He then pushes forward before pinging a thirty yarder to somebody up front.
Simple times but fun.

Steve Thompson was sold about 2 seasons in to my wanderers supporting career and being a wee boy I was gutted.
Then I got into goalkeeping and the pain lessened.

Obviously seeing players such as Hierro,Djorkaeff, JJ,Youri etc was something that i never ever thought i would see at Bolton. Even so the sides of 1992-3 and 1996-7 was just brilliant, i used to look forward so much to going. Some real characters in both respective sides as well as talent but most of all a real team ethic , players that would work their socks off for each other. It rubbed off on the supporters as well, away days were just superb
