Just saw this ...that's a real shame. Jinky's comments were always amongst the most sensible and reasoned on the old BBC 606 and this board. You could tell from reading that he was a man who certainly didn't let hatred and bitterness into his life like many in the Old Firm seem to do. All the best to you and your family at this time.

Very sad to hear that.

Jinky was very much the elder statesman on here.

Someone respected on both sides of the "divide."

Not only was he, as many before me have said, the voice of reason on here, he was also a great sport when it came to the wums on here.

E-mail Request:

From Call_Me_Ishmael.

Junglebhoy, so sorry to hear the tragic news of your old fella's sad passing. He really was a lovely bloke on here. I don't say that about many people. As much as I tried to wind him up, I quickly learned he was in fact 'unwinduppable'. He was too rational for my feeble attempts. I just gave up ... instead enjoying him for what he was, or certainly as he appeared to me ... simply a simple man ... with simple needs ... a good word to say about things that needed good words said. Criticising things that needed criticising. Sticking up for his team ... a team he obviously loved ... and its support, but not afraid to criticise either of them. One of the better Old Firm graduates from the 'old school'. What I knew of him I liked a lot. Don't look back in sadness ... I doubt he would have wanted that. Look forward, and appreciate more those that need you and whom you need. If you have a family yourself, teach them as your da taught you. Tell them what a great guy their granda was, and that if they grow to adulthood half as good as him, they will not go too far wrong in life. Again, my heartfelt sympathies and give your ma the attention and love that she really needs at this time.
