I understand what you are saying, but at the end of the day, if we go down everyone takes blame. Simple. The same if we stay. We'll praise everyone. The game could have been so different had Gabby scored that crucial miss or had Gerrard not cleared that crucial header. But Sylla, am not too sure if we should've wasted money on him. He may come good next season, but we have Bannan and Delph who are a good mix with their different styles in midfield. Then we have Westwood and the Arab...I'd play them ahead of Sylla. No point in buying him. If he's going to play anyone, play Dawkins, ffs...Why didn't he come on as 3rd sub?

Can't see what the fuss is about. L'pool are one of the better teams around, even if they've had a bumpy season, although not quite as bumpy as ours. Relative to them we played pretty well, although not well enough. We have several teams coming up who we have a very good chance of beating, and others which we might get something out of. Today's match wasn't one of those; a draw would have been nice, a win massive, but we didn't quite make it. Move on. We'll be OK.
Players? The ones we're playing have real talent. They're still learning, but they're all worth their place. If you want to see the alternative way of doing things look at Sunderland.

Don't mean to contradict you McParland, but this is the least talented Villa squad I've ever had the displeasure of watching. Most of it assembled by none other than Paul Lambert. Let's be honest: players like Sylla, Westwood, Bennett, Lowton, Dawkins etc. are lower league players who would be nowhere near the top teams like Liverpool and Spurs, or even the teams near that bracket like Everton. I'll give him Benteke and Guzan, and I think Vlaar is a good player who would do better alongside more established defenders. However, his decision to spend millions on players from the lower leagues has been a disaster and even if we do stay up Lambert has still been massively uninspiring. We had a chance to get back to being a solid midtable team this season and we haven't done that. With the current crop of players that Lambert has assembled I just don't see any light at the end of the tunnel I'm afraid.
Frustrated is not even close to how I feel.
Don't agree, 1987. Westwood, Bennet and Lowton are all worth their place. They're still learning how to defend in the PL, although they've improved a lot already. But they're good going forwards; they can pass, not hoof like last year's players. No they wouldn't be in a Spurs/Liverpool team (yet), but we're in a different position; we needed to rebuild, badly, and that's what we're doing. If PL had decided to go for established PL players, he could have afforded maybe one.
Sylla needs time to adjust, not surprisingly. I think he will. Dawkins is only here as insurance against injuries. The one player I can't see the point of is Bowery, but he cost next to nothing.
Who would you rather we had? Collins? Hutton? Warnock?
