Nope it won't. In the long run people only look at the bigger picture. When you retire, people bring up the positives over negatives as opposed to present where you can focus on both.

It won't hurt his legacy and it should't. Alonso's legacy hasn't been tarnished and even Schumacher would struggle to top Alonso's rap sheet.

What would hurt Seb's legacy is the monkey on his back for having the fastest car on the grid.

It's not fair but it is what it is and until we see him do similar in other machinery, there will always be a question mark.

Ye i think your right. It's also a matter of perspective too. I mean for me Schumacher was a devil but i loved him for it. Don't know why but there you go. I can't take the Vettel as a person and really these days and since Schumacher retired (the first time!) I have not really had an Iron in the fire. Don't really support any one driver or team. Used to stick with Ferrari from the Schumacher days, but god damn if stefano domenicali has not turned me right off ferrari. Still love watching Alonso wrestle that car around the track but cant get behind them.

But back to the point, Vettel will be in the history books as one of the most successful drivers but i doubth he will be considered in the same way Senna, Prost Schumacher et al are considered. True legends.

At least not until he takes himself off to a struggling team and makes it a winner.

In that sense Lewis Hamilton could be a legend before Vettel.

2011 red bull fastest car on the grid --- somebody should have told webber that as he was being blown off by mclaren ,

2012 ---- red bull fastest car on the grid -- again somebody should have told webber that as he was being blown off by the mclarens and vettel was struggling up until singapore -

just for the record manx what drivers have you actually seen that have won the WDC in anything but a highly competitive car -- ?

The redbull was the fastest car on the grid for most of 2010, all of 2011 and some of 2012.

Only a very dishonest person would suggest otherwise.

All world champions need a competitive car but as we've seen, Seb only wins races where he disappears from Pole, so it suggests he isn't as gifted as Alonso, Kimi or Hamilton. Alonso himself considers Hamilton the most talented driver on the grid. Why not Seb? If I had a car that was the fastest on the grid, I would do all I can to get Vettel to drive it and his race engineer who's value cannot be underestimated.

However if the car isn't up to scratch, he won't do much as has shown when there's a level playing field.

I wouldn't worry too much about Webber, you seem to be the only person that rates him. Even his team, team mate, team boss and helmut marko do not.

ah but i do worry about webber -- as i said before the top teams just dont put rubbish drivers in the top cars these days -

if the 2011 red bull was so good why could"nt webber do more with it instead of being blown off by the mclarens ?

as for 2012 as you said vettel struggled when the car was not competitive -- but still did enough to win the WDC --- in a car that was not competitive for most of the season -

as for who rates webber ---- you dont have the first clue how his team , vettel , horner , marko , rate him -
-------- lets not make up little fairy tales manx

Yes, Marko, Horner and co rate him very highly. The evidence is clear for all to see

Are you a comedian in real life?

Good one

as i said manx --- you dont have the first clue how the red bull management rate webber as like me you are just a person on a sports forum with absolutely no knowledge of what goes on internally at red bull - if they didnt like him he would of been gone a long time ago --

--------- lets not pretend you know how red bull works

Red Bull have had the fastest car since around half way through 2009. Vettel would have won in 09 if he hadn't had such reliability issues. In 2010 he would have been ahead by more again but for reliability. Last season the RB was awesome but had an achilles heel of qualifying, take a look at the pace shown at Valencia when he had nobody slowing him down.
It is not knocking Vettel to say these things, just observational. Webber is poor.

Martial does his act for attention, wouldn't worry too much about him.

If you've got some time to kill though, look him up. He's hilarious.

how do we actually know webber is poor , the simple answer is we dont ,
---- if webber was poor red bull would of got rid of him along time ago ,

I'd suggest that the best car overall last season was the McLaren? Wacky Pit Races derailing Hamilton's chance at the title.

I don't think the events at the last race will taint Vettel's legacy. He already has a mass of anti-fans who don't rate him anyhow it seems.

All he's done in my eyes is (and I don't agree with what he did) shown that he is ruthless on the track - it's a trait that many greats have had - Schumacher. Alonso for example.

the mclaren was easily the quickest car last year and but for reliability problems probably would have walked both championships -

must admit i have a sneaking admiration for what vettel did -- if you actually think about it took alot of bollox for vettel to actually do it -

why should we the paying public have to put up with choreographed phoney endings to races which team orders effectively is -

Like at Silverstone when Webber was told not to overtake him.

Agreed

I personally think they are idiotic. The sad thing is people place bets on f1.

The only time I would condone team orders is when the championship is on thhe line at the tail end of the season.

What redbull and mercedes did was disgraceful
