I was at kingsholm last night to watch the game, and although it was infuriating it was a great game and shows a lot of promise for gloucester going into next season. Haven't seen the highlights but the ref appeared to make some quite game changing decisions. But glos let themselves down and although looked so dangerous going forward just weren't calm or clinical enough to finish of the chances.

As for the rest of the games:

Leinster to win quite comftably, still think they have too much for wasps, especially up front.

Toulouse to beat Perpignan even though away from home.

Bath to edge Stadé.

Semi finals of Leinster v Biarritz and Bath v Tolouse (not sure where this game is played but home or away Toulouse should have too much all over the park regardless)

Leinster v Toulouse final... Winners anyone's guess!!!

I watched the Gloucester game on TV and thought the ref was fair overall. Biarritz were a class above, but it will help Gloucester with all the young players, though with Gatland and Lancaster at the game I'm not sure it will have helped the likes of Burns & May - we certainly missed Twelvetrees and Morgan to provide a bit of umph and experience at the higher levels

Anyway, some cracking games this weekend - probably Toulon - Leicester beign the pick, so here's my forecast

Heineken Cup:
Clermont - Montpellier: Clermont just too good all over the park - Clermont by 14

Saracens - Ulster: Saracens keen to go further, lacking a bit of experience, but home advantage on the plastic pitch, better form and a better side will carry the game: Saracens by 5

Harlequins - Munster: Both a little out of sorts, but with big names coming back, I just think Quins have that bit more steel right now, though Munster have huge experience to draw on - Harlequins by 3

Toulon - Leicester: The pick of the bunch, lets hope Sky have that Ulster bloke commentating as he's class. Toulon at home have just too much all over the field for me - Toulon by 5

Amlin Challenge Cup
Wasps - Leinster: Leinster's experience to carry the day, though it might be tighter than they like: Leinster by 5

Perpignan - Toulouse: Another absolute cracker - get the Ulsterman down for this one again. Just think Toulouse are not the force they once were and that Perpignan at home will prove too much - Perpignan by 7

Bath - Stade Francais: Bath are at home, but in a bad way and I'm surprised they got this far, the French don't usually travel well, but this will be the exception: Stade Francais by 10

what a start at adams park, wade is a demon finisher

Yes mex. hes dangerous in attack. Problem is, he's lethal in defence, for his own team. HAHAHA Sorry man couldn't help it.

Watched the game last night - that leinster fly half looked a good player, and was an absolutely cracking match as a neutral.

Is Wade really that bad defensively? In comparison to say Ashton?

Hey Addisons.

From my point of view Wade is electrifying with ball in hand. Haven't seen pace like that in a long time, and its not just out and out pace, his acceleration to top gear is almost instant. That's a nightmare for defending wings halves. Having played 14 years ago i would have been destroyed by him.

But give me the ball and i would got straight over him like he wasn't there. His defence is awful. He can't tackle worth a damn. But he can work on that. It's not something thats permanent. If he works on it and becomes even a reasonable tackler then he's gona be a star for sure.

In comparison to Ashton, tackling is not Ashtons problem. Defensive awareness and positioning is where ashton is brutal. Thats a more serious issue, as it requires some level of intelligence and knowledge of the game. Not saying he doesn't have it, but sometimes he seems to be running around wondering what to do, or single mindedly thinking about what he would do if he got the ball. Kinda like a greyhound chasing that little rabbit in circles. Rabbit vanishes into a hole in the wall. Greyhound still wondering about and confused.

disgusting behaviour by Jerome Fillol, deserves a very, very long ban for that, its as bad if not worse than eye gouging in my book, spitting is about as low and cowardly as you can get

Ah mex, Clermont have been the standout team since before christmas. This year, they are brilliant. Not stopping them. It's kind of boringly predictable when they play.

Thats why the Amlin this year is exciting because there is not clear front runner.

Wonderful finish by ashton. stupid way to ground the ball. but credit for the way he got over the line. still an idiot way to ground the ball.

Alright lads,

Been away so missed most of the games so far. Saw Sarries win, thought Ashton was decent. Stand outs for me were Tomkins in attack and defence and Henderson who carried brilliantly despite looking like a lanky schoolboy.

P.s. after 3 draws and a lot of losses my team finally won yesterday in the last game of the season, feeling it this morning!

Hey sporty. Man you are up early!
Ye Sarries took Ulster to the cleaners. Farrell for me was the stand out player.

Christian Wade from what I see doesn't miss many tackles I think it's perception because he's small so he can't tackle

Chris Ashton scored a great try showed great burst of acceleration hes actually played very well for Saracens made quite a few breaks needs to do it for England

Quins v Munster up first, if Munster can get Laulala and Zebo plenty of ball, they are in with a great chance

Munster are very fast to compete at the breakdown so far...lucky O'Gara is missing his kicks

good game so far, very tight

The scrums interesting. I don't agree with the Irish on field commentator, Marler's popping the tighthead up if you ask me and Johnson is winning his battle on the otherside....saying that it's not as clear cut as the ref is seeing it and i'd like to see resets rather than pens.

posted on 7/4/13

yeah, a couple of the scrum pens have been a touch harsh

Irish rugby fans/pundits do my head in

To be fair every nation has its numpty fans / pundits.

Interesting game so far...Quins back row being schooled at the break down which is stopping them playing their fast game.

Another thing that annoys me is this "Choke tackle" how are the support players supposed to protect the tackled player when the tackler isn't releasing?

posted on 7/4/13

It's not technically a tackle though, it's a maul. Once the ref calls Maul the players don't have to roll away when it hits the turf.
